I haven't looked at the figures for them but thee semi auto ones don't have the damage to and certaintly don't feel like they do. Even something like the scout elite doesn't seem to. Going to have to play around with them some more until I find one I like.
I saw a video on the .300 and I want it. Is there anyway to see what challenges you have to do? I know what the challenges are but can't find info on where to my progress through it.
Battlefield hardline is confusing in that it calls the DMRs "Sniper Semi Auto" but they are no in fact sniper rifles. The DMRs are Designated Marksman Rifles, and different to sniper rifles. They are essentially assault rfiles that fire high caliber bullets, but are fixed to single shot mode for improved accuracy - and fire just like a semi auto sniper rifle as a result.Battlefield has always purposefully avoided semi auto sniper rifles and used DMRs instead. Reason being is that DMRs use 7.62 assault rifle ammo and as a result use a battle rifle damage model, thus only doing 43 damage or so.
Semi Auto sniper rifles do exist in the real world, but battlefield has always avoided them for balance sake to not make them too easy to use.If you want to one hit kill people, get one of the purchasable unlock sniper rifles.
AWM for example is a one hit kill to the chest up to about 10m. The daddy for this however is the .300 knockout which is OHK up to 50m.

The DMR / Semi Auto Snipers are for those who want to spam bullets down range and don't want to have to rely on getting one good hit. If you are the short that can get one good chest hit, stick to the proper sniper rifles and grind out the challenges needed for the .300 knockout.
