*** Official BioShock 2 Thread ***

Got my copy delivered this morning...didnt get a chance to crack it open as i was on my way into work...oh well only another hr or so and im off home to get stuck into it.

Not interested in the MP side...more the SP side that interests me.
 
Quick question, do you need to of played Bioshock 1 to understand the story in the 2nd? Haven't played the first, would you recommend playing that before?

Ummm, yes, but it's not as badly required as like Mass Effect 1&2.

The story is somewhat attached to the first though so would be good if you did, plus, if you love the first, you will love the second.

I have only scratched the surface in my play since I got it a couple of hours ago, only just done the 3rd level (amusement park one). Saved it at the point where the train stops in the next level with the fat splicer jumping on the train.

Anyways, I love it, but I can't help but feel it's missing something that the first had... I don't feel scared like I did in the first because I'm a big daddy, I cant get a real feel for the atmosphere like you did in the first. Plus, whats with all the extremely low res textures? Is it worth installing this on HDD or are the textures just bad?

So I wouldn't say it's better than the first, but still a bloody good sequel so far :D

Went to pick up my collector's edition about an hour ago when I got the message 'Collector's are only available to pre-order online and shipped to your home, not picked up in store' to which I said, oh well ill just buy one without the pre-order then. Oh wait! You cant buy collector's in store at all, only online.

So only got a normal game. Kinda ****ed off by that, really really wanted it and nowhere online does it say that it's online purchase only. They didn't say anything either when I pre-ordered it so :(

Mines installed and only had a couple of areas with texture pop

huh? You're saying the 1st looked bad?

Bioshock 2 has a bit more "stylised" look to it and agree it does lack the atmosphere of the first, but it is still a cracking game.
I dont think Bioshock looked bad but 2 does look abit lower res but nothing game breaking, maybe I'm not as fussy as some and do not expect as much from games/developers :shrug:

I think he's saying not that 1 was bad but after 2 years developement they have made a game that looks worse than a 2 year old game.

I agree it doesn't wow like bioshock 1 did, the textures are sloppy compared to the first but I'm so busy looking about for tapes I've not noticed that much.
 
I'm not finding this easy at all :D Ok I'm not dieing and I've turned off the vita chambers but the splicers take loads of my energy away in each encounter.

I found that as well, much better that though than being able to stock up on Eve and Health right from the get go

I'm sure the evolution of getting your arse kicked by the Big Sister/Sofia Lamb right at the beginning to getting your own back later in the game will be hugely satisfying :D

Really wish I wasn't stuck at work so I could follow on from where I left off last night :(
 
I've done two levels and I thought I'd look at an audio log guide to see if I was missing them. I thought I'd been checking everywhere, really taking my time and in the first two levels I missed 4 :D

Wanting to try the MP but can't be bothered on my own, come on Wyrdo bunk off work early ;)

i didnt mean the graphics. i meant the game as a whole

Hhhhmmm I wonder how many I've missed.... will have to check that out myself :)
