It was introduced along with the Cat 8.3 driver today.
Hope it would be helpful to all XfireX users:)

No hotlinking

Edit: I've changed the link, mod. Sorry about that! And I do think this chart is pretty helpful to most of ATI users here:

I'm not sure if that was me I'm afraid, didn't really want to consider it until I saw official charts.

Definitely. :D

Then I have to congratulate you now!:D
I have a CF board as well but my second PCIE slot is only X4.
Do you think it would hold me back with 2x 3870?
(BTW, My case can't fit a 3870X2 I'm afraid, I'm gutted)

I have to say ATi have really changed their public image recently, X2 and CFX is the saviour. My faith is being restored in them for sure, especially with the recent slip ups NV have made.

My thoughts exactly...broke my run of V9999GE->6800GT->7800GS+->7950GT->8800GTX->8800GTS :)

Nice, might add a 3870 to my 3870 X2 sometime down the line. :D

Ditto. I'll need a new motherboard though and that's one with a PCI X slot for my SCSI card. Only such board that I like so far is the P5E WS Pro (I currently have a P5K WS).

I hope Asus continue their workstation lines with P45/X48, my P5K WS has been amazingly solid so far.

Well I keep blowing hot and cold about this XfireX malarky, but curiosity is probably gonna get the better of me and I reckon that after the weekend I might just pick up a 3870XT and give it a whirl. Besides, if it don't work or cant justify it, I can always sell the second card.
I am so.....tempted.:D

Does that mean you don need a bridge for two 3870x2's

Certainly, all ATI high-end cards need the physical bridge for transferring data between the 2 cards IN CF setup because PCIE channel can not handle it well.

Only low-end cards can be fed by the PCIE:)

Which is why i always thought it would be a good idea if ATI added a physical crossfire connection at the bottom of the boards themselves just past the PCIE lanes (so you dont need the top crossifre bridge).
