Official Gaming Servers

Here it goes, I am looking into providing game servers for the Overclockers UK community. - These servers will be run by a server company who I have close contacts with, and servers are open to everybody who just want to pop on and play some games. :cool:

Everyone will be able to use it, before I start planning, I just need an idea of which games people would play that is popular. - I know Minecraft is hugely popular so I think that will be a must, but what other popular game servers would you think will be popular and should be a must too?

TF2, CS, CSS are the most popular on steam.

Adding my vote for Minecraft ;-)

I will get you addicted to it 5UB :-D

But also OcUK servers for the Battlefield games would seem a smart idea.
What about Dwarf Fortress and Terraria?
The Call of Duty series are played by one or two people.
If Torchlight 2 has private/dedicated servers when released, that would also get my vote.

However you'll need admins, can't just have the server. You need people online as much as possible to kick cheaters and to help if there is a server issue(server crash)

Minecraft server can be high maintenance as it's still in beta. FrenchTart & co seem to be keeping the OcUK one in good shape as it is.

Most of the games I'd want have been covered (Minecraft, Killing Floor, Urban Terror (though that won't get used much probably)). BFBC2 would be good - especially a SQDM server.

For all of the ones I've mentioned I'd be happy to admin. I reckon we should have a chat if you want to host a properly official MC server though

There's a fair chunk of work involved and if it were to go ahead I'd suggest taking across the current map and mods so the players don't get too annoyed. Up to you though - and if this isn't feasible I can just keep the current server as an unofficial one or whatever.

BFBC2, both a SQDM server and a Rush server. You'd need admins, I'll be happy to offer my services.

CS:S is a must, although if I'm honest I'd prefer 1.6!

I'm not playing many other games at the moment really but that's because I have no one to play with

If there's a BFBC2 server I'll definitely get on board with that, and maybe Minecraft seeing as I've got it

Does anyone else remember the UT99 server we had a while back? It was ***Unofficial*** but it was absolutely awesome :cool:

Would there be any interest in this again?
