Official Gigabyte DS3 Owners Thread

Thanks guys now no fighting over me???

Do you know of any other overclocking guides for this mobo other than the one on this page?

Regards

Jobe

As the board is still fairly new, there are only one or two on the net I've found.

Once we get a bit more info on here then I'll get one together and also OCing results posted from here too etc.

hey duke look at the thread in overclocking. look what i got this board to do :D :)

further info on this board, I believe if you using anything higher that 667 DDR2 memory the board with automaticly put you on a divider of 3:5. in affect the memory will be running in sync of the CPU.

hope this helps.

Righty-o, thanks buddy!

I'm loving this E6400, I just fired up Splinter Cell Chaos Theory and got between 60 and 90 fps, full HDR, AA, AF, soft shadows, all maxed settings. :D

i've got it running at 2.7GHz at the moment, gonna push past 3GHz. it 28 degree's at idle, which is lower than I was expecting! My memory clocks are 5-8-8-24 and a frequency of 507MHz.

Just upgraded my BIOS from F1 to F3. For some reason it seems to take longer to boot into windows after the BIOS upgrade. Also I get more video card flickering whilst loading Windows. Anyone experienced the same problem?

Not sure about it taking longer but at the windows welcome screen my video card flickered as well for about 2 seconds..then go back to normal..

My E6400 wasn't stable at 2.8GHz :( It's gotta be my RAM holding it back. I'll purchase some decent stuff like the G.Skill HZ kit when I need to.

PS - it wasn't stable on the cpu test for 3DMark 03 (Wings of fury). Does that mean to say that games will crash at the same overclock or further?

I just got 7780 on 3DMark 05, E6400 at 2.7GHz. Does that seem low?

4GHz - nice! Got any info to post here to help others? :)

Only that my last post wasnt entirly acturate.
This might take a while.

Pentium D is 533Mhz
Memory is 667Mhz

now 1:1 divider is stated as 3.33. This makes the memory 533 too.
Idont even know if this would help any conroe situations but the dividers look a bit strange.

Built myself a PC with one of these today, only problem is - it won't start.

I've double checked all the connections, they're secure. The Default HSF from the E6600 is secured, and the power supply (FSP 500Watt) is more than adequate. I press the start button, and all the fans except for the CPU fan spin for a second or two, then the PC turns itself off and repeats the same thing again indeffinately.

The CPU fan tries to spin, it sort of spasms when I first press the on button and then again when the PC automatically turns off after a second or two. It's not blocked or anything, it just doesn't seem to spin.

Also - how the hell do you get the CPU fan connector off the motherboard. It's like the ruddy thing's glued on, and no ammount of effort will remove it.

Try moving it side to side whilst pulling it out.

Heh, I already did and it didn't help.

Anyway, I've now tried the thing with a different PSU that deffinitely works out of my old PC, and I've got the same problem. Also, plugging a case fan into any of the 4 pin fan connectors on the motherboard means the fan won't work. The fans only work from the PSU molex connectors.

Could this mean I've got a dud board?

The only problems in the case is a lack of a mount spot in one location. The middle one on the right hand side doesn't line up with any mount holes on the case (thermaltake Soprano)

Do these boards actually conform to the ATX standard? It's almost as if it's MicroATX, but there's nothing about it being MATX in the description.
