Official Gigabyte DS3 Owners Thread

Mine was doing the exact same thing and i have sent the board back for a replacement. I tried clearing the cmos and removing the battery to clear it but still done the same thing. Would have tried to update Bios (although why should i!) but i couldn't because of the fault.
Also, when it 1st done it i could see the screen saying "Bios Recovering......" and it kept saying that again and again switching on and off.

Got a reply for the company i got the DS3P off today and it was faulty. Ive now gone for an Asus P5B DLX.

I played battlefield 2 for 3 hours last and no problems. I did notice the extra heat kicked out by my case. Checked my temps after playing and the cpu temp was 38', which is good on the stock cooler. However, the northbridge heatsink was too hot to even touch, so i need to sort a fan out for that.

Not changed any voltages yet or the memory.

I didn't touch the volts at all, but have not tested under full load yet.

I'll try the memory at 1000 then.

any suggestions for the volts ?

Or just up it .01 at a time ?

It may do it at 2.2v @4-4-4-12. 2.3v at the most.

It will do 1000mhz 5-5-5-15 @2.2v without any problems.

where in the bios is the memory speed settings? I see the multiplier but nothing to chnage the speed settings and cpu-z reports my memory which is the Crucial Ballistix 6400 wrongly...i dont even see the voltage settings for memory...f4 bios

yeah i see options to chnage the way the speed is set.,....but nothing that allows me to set my own parameters for maximum cooling

you should be able to select the fan to be constantly on full speed, i have. If you're talking about setting yourself a custom rpm then that's not an option.

ive disabled every relevant throttling option in the bios and the thing still throttles back...it works well but i would still like to clock it without the throttle...

Temp 1 is the motherboard, I'm not sure what temp 2 is.
Hmm I think 2 `might` be NB (goes up quickly under load, then quickly drops back)
38deg seems very hot for a motherboard thats only been on 5 mins

ok..sorted that.....how does this board run with 4 gigs ram?....so 4x1 gig of ballistixs...will it still run at the same speed as a single pair?

They're fine with 4 sticks.

But, as with most other boards, you may have to up your vdimm or slightly loosen your timings. I went from 1000mhz @4-4-4-12 to 1000mhz @5-4-4-12 when I added my second pair of Ballistix.

I had another play with the overclocking last night. I ran cpu-z and intel TAT to monitor temps.

When set 100% load on the TAT, i hit 69-70 deg's on the 2 cores, a tad hot but it was stable.

Must mean that when gaming the cpu gets nowhere near 100% load as the temps after playing are around the 40 deg mark.

I think i will invest in a arctic cooling 775 cooler to run this overclock over an extended time.

And whne i get time this weekend amongst a BBQ, beers and Battlefield 2 then i'll sort out a fan for the NB heatsink.
