***Official GTX 670 thread***

Where do I start with my EVGA GTX670

In precision X I have power target on 100%
GPU and mem at 0%

The GPU clock is showing 324mhz at the moment with auto set on the fan speed.

Do i increase power target or the others?

I have used MSI afterburner in the past (on my EVGA GTX570)

Thanks

edit - how to i get 3d mark 'firestrike'

http://www.futuremark.com/

Is it part of Vantage or 3dmark 2011?

With afterburner, i set power target to max, then for core and memory, bumped theese up +10mhz at a time. Stress testing with heaven benchmark.

Firestrike free version can be downloaded on steam.

You need to install Steam and download 3dmark to get firestrike although you will get all the other benchmarks as well unless you buy it for like £18.

Regarding the OC, set the Power Target slider to max, usually 112%.

Then start with say +50 on the core and +0 on the memory and bench, you'll soon see if its unstable and adjust accordingly until your at your max.

Then repeat with memory but starting at around the +500 mark.

Once you have your max on both fronts try to get them to bench together, you may need to dial back both ever so slightly to get it stable.

For Reference;
My 24/7 clock is power 112%, +75 core, +500 mem
My bench clock is power 112%, +150 core, +845 mem

This I dont understand.

I have just tried
112% power
+60 core
+500 mem

By that theory shouldn't it be boost 1040 core, 6508 memory?

Instead monitoring shows 1124 core, 3506 memory (7012 I presume)

I'm not sure of the technicalities of Kepler boost but my +75 works out at 1280mhz boost. +500 mem is 7ghz yes

You probably have to take the stock core boost into account as well. My wf 670 has a stock core speed of 980mhz, once boosted it hits 1189mhz. When oc'd at +130, this leaves it running at 1320mhz.

Indeed you do but that where it gets a bit more difficult giving info to others because my stock boost is 1205mhz so there are in effect no generic, one good for all settings

i think my default is 915mhz base / 980mhz boost / 6008mhz memory.

The precision X thing isn't very clear. There is way too much rubbish on the RPM style dashboard thing. Is there a clearer skin where you can just see numbers?

voltage is showing 0.987 in 'adjust voltage'

I prefer to use afterburner, a nice simple layout where all you have to do is type in the values you wish to use. Theese cards are voltage locked, so you wont have to worry about that.

Also when benching, keep an eye on temps as the card will throttle back at 70c. You may want to use a more aggressive custom fan profile.

I guess you just use 'synchronize cards' options with SLI and overclock like usual

What is the point in them throttling at 70c? Do they not operate well after 70?

I have now set between 50-60c to bump from 50-70% fan speed

Before I just had auto hardware fan speed on, it doesn't seem to do anything at all! handy

If 980mhz is the standard boost +70 which I have it set to then I guess it should be 1050mhz boost. This is the reported boost speed in GPUZ

However 1150mhz is showing as the boost clock in MSI Afterburner (and 3506mhz for the memory, which is about right)

Also, what does the power limit % do? Mine is at 112

How come in Heaven 2.5 I get random core clock, GPU usage and power dips?

This is either the benchmark not requiring the gpu (which i doubt) or something else

Temps are not going above 65c

I have a 2nd 670 on its way. I have my current clocked. But how do I the 2nd card. Never SLi`d before.

I would remove your existing card and test the new card alone at first. I did this when I received my second 670 and realised that the new one was a completely crap clocker compared to my first. I can barely get it to 1120 before it tanks where as my original one does 1250 all day long.

Make sure they can both clock or you will have no end of issues. Though to be fair there really isn't any point in running them overclocked in SLI - not even for your resolution.

Just noticed a new Gigabyte WF 670 bios has been posted.

However here's the confusing part. your only meant to flash the bios for your series.

BE WARNED before you flash and blame me for bricking your card!!!!

There is a reason why there are two bioses listed. Your meant to flash the right bios of the two!!

As confusingly explained here:

Please note:

You can only update to a VBIOS version of the same series.

If your VBIOS version is:

F1, it can only be updated with VBIOS versions F2-F9.

F10, it can only be updated with VBIOS versions F11-F19.

F20, it can only be updated with VBIOS versions F21-F29.

etc.

Ive noticed with my wf, when i first got it. Setting core boost to +130 resulted in a clockspeed of 1320mhz, now when i set the same speed it only reads at 1306mhz when running benchmarks. Also noticed that ASIC quality is now reading as 86%, when i got it it read at 100%.

Mine used to do 1300 and it now reads as 1293
