***Official GTX 670 thread***

do you know what, I wouldn't bank on it, I reckon the short and long board by itself won't make that much of a difference, and across the board you'll still be down to the vagaries of the silicon lottery (I would imagine boards like the windforce are using specifically hand picked chips to justify the extra money - otherwise how gutted would you be to pay all that extra for a windforce only to find out you top out at 1150)

definitely don't buy the 670 phantom though as gainward never bin their chips so you it's entirely down to luck with them

More power supply and capacitators = more stability with higher clocks.

Yep the KFA2 EX OC and Gigabyte are both even boosting to 1200MHz without even touching the clock speeds and they seem to hit 1300MHz without much fuss, but higher than 1300MHz is only possible on a good Gigabyte or KFA2 EX OC from the testing I've done. They are without a doubt the two best cards, not only that they also have the best cooling solutions too. :)

Gibbo when OCUK will ship KFA2 EX OC cards then?I want selected one doing 1300++ MHz :) could be tested by you, don't bother :)

So basically Gibbo is stealing the best ones already leaving us with less chance of getting golden chips :(

And the prices ... :( :( :(

TY for the info, which would you say is geared more towards the discerning owner who is looking for the greatest silence?

Personally I am hopping for £299 ish. Seeing £300+ will make me wait for drops, or daily/weekly offers. Pay day isn't til the 18th anyway.

Well if you consider taking 1 Gigabyte and 1 KFA2 from a stock pile of 500+ stealing, then you have issues. :p

I've tested so far:-

1x Gigabyte 670 it hit 1337MHz max core and 7200Mhz RAM
1x KFA2 EX OC 670 it hit 1310MHz max core and 7200Mhz RAM
1x Palit 670 Reference, it hit 1215MHz max core and 7000Mhz RAM
1x EVGA 670 SC, it hit 1250Mhz max core and 7000Mhz RAM.

That is 4 cards out of nearly the 1000 I have in stock, so I think your comment is a little far fetched considering. :)

I really don't have time to test any more!

What?? He's testing ~1000 cards and cherry picking the best, are you serious?

He's opened a few to test and obviously can't sell those now as new cards so obviously will use them in pre built systems, what is wrong with that?

Very hard to seperate the Gigabyte and KFA2 EX OC to be honest, they are both hardly audible with fan on AUTO and even at maximum fan speed they are hardly annoying.

lol ya ... amazing that you have 1000 cards I dont know what the states will have for 670's but for 680's they have been dry since release and only come in a few at a time then are gone in literally minutes.

Nothing at all, we don't even OC the VGA cards in systems.

If I had say only 10 of each card, then yeah testing 1 or 2 could be an issue. But I have in general 100+ of each one, so like you say testing 1 of each is not even going to impact anything.

Well I've got over 500x GTX 680 here, anyone looking from the USA, feel free to order, we will ship across the pond. :D

Its fine, I just want a good one too. I'd buy an opened one if it was a good clocker :)

Thanks for all the info Gibbo, still sold on the 3x :)

Is there truth behind the thermal throttle on the 680 and 670? As I'm thinking pushing 1350 may just be possible under water ;)
