***Official GTX 670 thread***

Think im gona end up getting an MSI 7950 for the 3gb ram and overclock the nuts off it. I want my next card to last me at least 2 years. My 6870 has done me well for the past 19 months but with only 1gb ram seems to be not cutting it anymore. Especially when im getting a second 1080p monitor soon. Suppose it depends on the 670 prices.

Oh i saw this before i went to bed last night..

AMD Counter-Attacks GeForce GTX 670, Questions NVIDIA's Kepler Availability

http://www.brightsideofnews.com/new...2c-questions-nvidias-kepler-availability.aspx

aye, but how do amd expect to sell anything if those early reviews of the gtx670 prove to be true come 2pm today. (apparantly 670 matches 7970 in performance? some tests greater) unless amd reduce the prices of their lineup I think people will just keep jumping onto the nvidia bandwagon.
Hell if amd match their 7970 prices to a 670, i'll probably buy an 7970.

...save myself a buckload of ££££

Have you not seen that cracking 7950 on special offer this week for £290? Its got an excellent cooler, you could probably hit 1200mhz with it and its going to be around £60 cheaper than a 670, what are you waiting for?

****** drivers..... make it not so cracking and I say that with love, I used to defend AMD staunchly.

Well there's also the Ghz edition for the 7970 which will apparently put it on par with the 680s

Exactly..thought about the 7970 aswell if they drop enough and the way i see it is i just need a card to do what i need it to do,not have the fastest thing out there, just need it to be capable for what i need it for ;) and i've waited this long so a little longer isnt gona hurt :p

Ive used AMD and Nvidia cards had no actual problems with either. Your kidding yourself if you think AMD drivers have more problems than Nvidia's, you only need to check the Nvidia forums to see just how many people have problems with the drivers..

Back on topic, looking forward to seeing 670 prices, if any come in at £300 I will grab one to replace GTX 480 SLI..

yeah i saw that, basically they are going to lower the voltage requirement on the 7970 to run at 925mhz thus providing more oc headroom.

The real interesting thing to see is if amd will charge a premium for this and release them at a higher price than current 7970's.

Same... I've only had trouble when switching from one graphics card to the next & haven't cleared the old drivers properly.

Even going nvidia -> nvidia can be trouble if old drivers aren't fully cleared.

I used to just wipe my OS every time I would change a significant piece of hardware... but now that I know how to clear the drivers properly, no longer need to.

Could someone tell me roughly how much better a 670 is over a 570?

If rumours are correct and the performance of a 670 is not far from a 680, then the improvement would be significant. Enough to warrant an upgrade IMO.

Judging by early reviews and comments from those who already have them the GTX 670 has Less compute power, but more memory, has much better gaming performance runs cooler and quieter.. Overall it's a decent step up from the 570. All comes down to price though, price VS performance, if they are to expensive other cards may be better options...
