***Official GTX 670 thread***

Yep, i ran ultra with no msaa, but had to use a pretty aggressive fan profile as two overclocked 470's in sli got rather hot. Temps at 70c, single card hits 66c.

Windfarm here:

So far 1271 core (+82), 7200 memory and the card won't go above 54 C on any overclock so far. It runs incredibly cool so I think there is more to be squeezed out. Will post graphs, benches when limit reached.

I'm impressed with the card to be honest what it gets at stock, 1058Mhz boost clock on the box and it was automatically boosting itself to 1185Mhz where as the reference KFA 670 boosts up to 980 stock, to me that is a nice improvement. Worth the price difference I don't know but the fans are silent.

My reference KFA2 670 boosts to 1085 on stock.

May attempt a bit of overclocking to to see how far she goes but I'm happy to leave it at stock tbh.

I would love to be able to match bhavv on my reference card :p

Go to page 2, down at the bottom, briefly touches on the power management, and clocks cutting back. Could be worth a try for those like bhavv to set it to 'prefer maximum performance' ?

cheers.

Damnit, i've tried the 301.25 drivers and the 301.34 drivers now. I've done the safe mode > driver cleaner and wiped all old ATI and nvidia drivers, I've made sure directx is up to date, i've run furmark for 10mins to test the temperatures and that seems fine....unless the card simply isn't coping being pre-overclocked and running that boost thing i can't work out what's wrong :/

EDIT: time to downclock the card and see if the same problem occours, if that fixes it then it looks like an RMA :/

I've not really experienced many hard reboots from gfx drivers, id say power or the card being the llikely sources of the problem.

also i had a kfa2 460 and it was a letdown in noise and overclocking so I'll avoid really.

Ok I'm bored and still haven't reached seemingly anywhere near the limit but here we are:

1296MHz Core (+106), 7200 MHz Memory
Again, in unigine or 3dMark 11 this GPU will NOT go above 54C.

OC SETTINGS SO FAR (As above)

Don't quite know when the heat will go above 54C but this custom fan profile is working well.

wow max 54c, thats nice, can you hear the fan at that temp?, what card did you get?, the windforce?

Yes I can't quite understand it myself. The windforce OC cooler is super efficient.

Bhavv, switched everything off (typing on my laptop now) so can't tell you exact number but I believe it was 10,300-10,400ish. I will do some more testing tomorrow to see what the limit of the windforce is on my setup.

What strange settings to run a bench at for a 670
Surely you should try stress test it?

Well, I did this in increments of 10 on the core clock and looking at most threads, 7100-7200 MHz on memory on this card is very doable and needed for a stable core.

Stress testing? No offence but no thanks. I won't run furmark or anything of the sort on my card and never have. I have seen at least 2 cards stop working after running it. If it runs in-game and on common benchmarks that is good enough for me. I always watch my temps very carefully and never have issues.

Not sure what you mean about settings. If you mean the benchmark settings, I just left them as standard. If you mean the precisionX card settings, the numbers you are seeing are just throttle down numbers after the bench is finished. The actual test figures are seen on the graphs.

Naw I don't mean furmark testing, I meant the settings of the benchmark. You currently have Tessalation off, and no AA. Basically, it's not really testing what your card is made for. Check out the heaven benchmark thread for the standard settings they use, and then you'll get a good idea of where about you are. Also you'll notice a massive difference in the eye candy :D

Anyway, it seems like you have a good card considering where it clocks to at stock settings. My windforce boosts to 1175 at stock. My max OC so far has been 1300 mhz core clock, and 3492 mhz mem clock. For gaming I've got it clocked at 1200mhz GPU clock, and 3200 mhz mem clock. I get about 65 degrees, but I do have a stupidly hot room all the time :)
