Further question for those who have the WIFI Mesh - can the minihub give you wifi using a cable?

I have Cat6 throughout the house and would like to place the mini hub about half way. Rather than take a weak signal from wifi i'd rather give it a cable.

So

Hyperoptic Modem > Cat6 network line > mini Hub > more powerful wifi

Yes it can, I've got mine set-up that way. They often do deals where Total WiFi is included, it might be worth phoning them before you sign up to see if there's a deal available.

Yup, I have the mobile phone number of a hyperoptic salesman who did me £32pm for 1Gb including Total wifi. Wayy better than was on their site.

Anyone had Hyperoptic installed to their house? It looks like it’s available in my area and that I just need to sign a wayleave proposal(???). I assume that someone will need to drill a load of holes in my house?

We're moving next year and we have a choice between Openreach FTTP and Hyperoptic.

I'd love the 1.6 Gbps service that EE (and a couple of others?) offer, but it's far too expensive. Hyperoptic's 1 Gbps up/down service, even with the static IP address, is nearly half the price, so that's what I'm considering.

Edit: Holy thread bump. What happened to Hyperoptic as I used to see them mentioned frequently!

Competition. Community Fibre in our case came in before Hyperoptic despite Hyperoptic even sending letters they'll be here soon, 8 years later they're still not here (lower priority), also wasn't suitable for their deployement method (FTTB in most cases rather than FTTP and their preference for multi-dwelling units like tower blocks) and many building owners refused access or their proposed plans to deploy. Now a lot more Openreach enabled areas and prices starting to get competitive too from companies using Openreach.

They definitely were the one to go with a while back, especially for 500Mb(it) symmetrical (or higher, 1Gbit), but no longer due to that (speeds and symmetric connections) no longer being the rarirty it once was.

Hyperoptic are fine, they just don't seem to be expanding in any meaningful way, and have no offering above 1Gbps. Their support also do not understand how to handle network queries such as destinations being unreachable, or weird routing. If your service is online and you can browse to a website then they get stuck if you need anything else from them.

I've had 1Gbps Hyperoptic for four years and have had no issues really, the connection has been extremely reliable, speeds are usually consistent and it's decent value too. Their customer support has definitely deteriorated over the years - I once waited months for a reply from them - but I seldom have need to contact them so that's not really an issue.

If they offered faster speeds I don't think I'd bother paying for it anyway, it's tricky enough at times finding servers that will max out 1Gbps let alone anything higher.

If it helps, I've recently signed up with Hyperoptic as they sent me a BF deal code, it's standard for everyone (NOT a referral).

They offered the first 3 months free, then £22 a month, from April 2026 it's £25 and from April 2027 it's £28.

Also, they paid my ETF with my previous supplier, so I also have a credit of £154 on my bill, so it'll be 9 months until I start paying again :D

Free install etc, this was the 1Gb service.

Link is: www.hyperoptic.com/bfriday25

Or if you call them the code is simply BFRIDAY25
