Its ***OFFICIAL*** folkses. bit like marmite these ***OFFICIAL*** threads, you either love or hate....

Do you? Why?
 
On another forum, they banned people from creating anything "offical" if they didn't work for the company as people (including posters) felt that it gave the impression that the "official" thread was in some way connected to the company.

I.e - the posters don't have the authority to make anything official as they dont work for the company how owned the forums.
 
I just don't get why it has to be official, all that matters is that the op is well presented and has all the relevant information possible. This at least cuts down the number of people repeatedly asking the same questions in the thread. The assumption that putting *official* in it but leaving a simple, unhelpful op is of any use just doesn't make sense for me.
 
We've had threads complaining about the **********Official********** stuff before. I tend to agree but *shrug* don't really care enough to moan about it anymore :p
 
Its useful to have just the 1 thread on a topic that's easily identifiable if its likely to be a popular thread - the Official threads solve this problem.... except when there's a dozen of them on 1 page. TBH it doesn't bother me.
 
can't say I'm particularly bothered either way. As long as we don't have ten different threads on the same game, I'm a happy chappy :)

I agree. Doesn't matter either way, just keeps the forum tidier having one thread where people can talk about the game. Threads with lots of moaning are what fail... :(

LOL @ doin' me nut in... It does though doesn't it? My testosterone levels were a bit high, so much so i was grunting and roaring like a cheap pornstar with every typed word - i had a right old rant on in the ***OFFICIAL*** Left 4 Dead thread. These ***OFFICIAL*** threads make me want to climb a bell tower and take lives.. :p

Just the game name will do ta. Adding ***OFFICIAL*** makes it a soup of poop where game names don't jump out at ya.

Please mods, put an ***OFFICIAL*** ban on ***OFFICIAL*** threads.

To me, the official threads are to stop multiples appearing on the same subject.

First OFFICIAL = only thread.
 
^^as above. Stop whinging about OFFICIAL threads, they are helpful and the l4d thread has been a source of must amusement/advice/rage quits
 
You'd hate it even more if 1000's of questions were asked or topics were created just for one game. Having just one thread focus on one game keeps the forum from having too many topics on that one particular game.

What I hate more is non-descriptive threads. If you're asking a question, put it in your thread title. For Example, take the Guildwars thread. He just named his thread "Guildwars" when he should named it "Anyone still play Guildwars?"

Thats my biggest annoyance on forums.

They do not annoy me enough to create a thread about them, in the wrong forum :p

Or enough to troll other threads and take them off topic ;)
