***Official Intel Haswell Thread***

Cynically expecting them to solder only the '-E' chips and do it lazy again with the mainstream stuff. That'd be another reason for me to stick to my i5 750, as I'd really like to avoid stumbling across another potato-recorded, rap-blasting, how-not-to, de-lid video :p

Plenty of good videos showing how to delid, only takes 10 mins apparently.

who cares if they are soldered - not-soldered - the current Ivy Quads are still the fastest quad cores :)

^It's a fairly minor con, yeah. Being on a pretty capable quad now, I really want to upgrade to a fast hexacore or even octocore at mainstream pricing. AMD, we need you!

It looks like Intel will charge even more for the K series Haswell CPUs:

http://fudzilla.com/home/item/30864-...s-eu-retailers

The normal ones will replace the preceding IB ones at the same price.

That is not based on Intel's pricelist that is based on what retailers are selling for and is pretty normal for brand new models.

As the new CPUs become more available and the launch dies down retailers will become more competitive.

Do we know if Intel have gone back to flux solder for joing the IHS to the CPU die or are they still using thermal paste supplied by the lowest bidder?

No one knows yet, well maybe 8 Pack does, but he's not talking. Intel have previously admitted that they dropped the ball with IB though, so I'd expect them to do better this time. Glass half full.
