***Official Ivybridge Overclock Thread***

Oh yeah you said earlier xD is the IC Carat TIM worth grabbing? OCuk only has the 4g one instock... and I need some TIM for the Heatsink reseat. I just hope my CPU never burns up... Id never smell it due to the smoke that I smell thanks to being above the door in my section of flats >.<

I thought max temps are 77c, you guys that are hitting 90c+, surely you don't want to run at that temp just for an OC.

@ ollie1132, I would suggest you back it off on the OC and voltage until you are sure your heat sink is mounted correct.

Its fine for now. The max temp is 105C and Im only just hitting 90C at 4.5Ghz usually have about 75C on my 4.3Ghz I just wanted to see if I could get 4.5Ghz stable. Plus the stress test temps will never really be hit realistically.

I don't think so, the max temp will not be 105c

Im sitting just on the 90 mark now. (Ill jump back to my 4.3Ghz in a couple of hours just checking the 4.5Ghz is stable so I can save the profile ^.^) So the IC Carat TIM should I grab some? or get the Artic Cooling MX4?

i can hit 4.7 with 1.29volts using the H100 cooler ran prime for 2hrs and hit 74C Max (1.28V @ 4.6GHZ feels the sweet spot for me)

but run as standard @ 4.2 even with prime running i hit a max of 64C happy with that, ive seen 4.9 system boots but then i get BSO :(

my 1st time OC so dont really have 2 much of a clue how 2 get the best out of the CPU

what a difference a bios update makes, updated my V Gene (was on a pre-release bios ... wasn't even production bios lol - that old) - and running the 3770k on lower volts :)

4.5 seems ok in Prime with mem at 2200 - quite pleased so far - its probably as hot as expected - but very very fast - and very low power usage

Can you just to clarify what you have the green set at? 10-10-10-28-2T? With 1.5v? I'm on 1866 9-9-9-9-28-2T at the moment on I think 1.45 or might be 1.4v.

When i say broken i mean they are all the same, levels 2 through 5 dont provide varying degress of vdroop they behave the same.

Now i would be happy to be proved wrong and ASrock have actually bothered to fix this LLC issue, but they probably haven't.

.

Well for me with my volts set to 1.25v and llc set to auto which was level 5 in the BIOS Windows would crash shortly after login. Overriding this on my Extreme6 to Level 4 and its working a treat, so there must be a difference!

4500 seems to be the overclock for my 3770k for now

we're not talking cool - but this is after quite a few runs of small AVX prime

Wow thats a lot of heat! I'm running my 3770 at 4500 with 1.25 volts (drops to 1.176 ish on load) and I don't get temps go over 75!

My 3770k is currently at 1.25V just checking how stable it is at 4.5Ghz with this voltage (Im hoping I can lower the volts a bit since some people get 4.5Ghz at about 1.8v but I needed at least 1.2v to get to windows) my temps are sitting at 90 for cores 2 3 and 4 for max and just under 80 for core 1. (taking it core 1 is the more realistic temp with my heatsink being seated badly) hoping this is stable and isn't the kind of temps I can expect after a reseat.

I was the same Ollie, 1.2 would get me to windows, with a sluggish login appearing then would BSOD. Since we're running the same mobo and nears as dammit coolers I'm sure we'll find we're very similar in what we can achieve!
