I think one review said 72c

One review? ... Yoda tells me that we need to let the force do its work... give it at least a month in the REAL world and lets see results from homes where PC's are wedged into desks and we will see where the limit settles

Where are you guys getting these prices? I haven't managed to come across any prices - nor found anyone offering these CPUs for sale at all.

Hopefully, all will be revealed here on Sunday when the processors are released for sale.

Blimey. I've never known for any item's price to be shrouded in such mystery.
Typically, weeks/months before release, the trade price (per 1000 units), is released on the internet.

Good point. With other stuff - graphics cards say - we ge the chance to pre-order before they are released. Some people would like to do this with the Ivys. There must be something odd about the NDA that stops this I suppose.

Not sure where you're getting your prices from, but from this site the 2600s are £230 and the 2600Ks are £250. But yes you are right, there will be a price drop.

They were £209 here two days ago on the weekly deal :)
£215 direct from the rainforest site amongst many other places.

With regards to price drops, it's important to remember that clock for clock the 2600K is actually better than the 3570K in a lot of multithreaded situations.

8MB vs 6MB cache and the hyperthreading makes a large difference in a lot of multithreaded scenarios.

If the 2600K and 3570K are equal in price, it's actually a tough decision.
