** Official ** January 2010 Transfer Thread- Rumours & Speculation in here

Carrick is about 28 years old, anderson about 22....give it 6 years who will be a better player?

personally I think you are just sprouting bs

EVERYONE played badly in the CL final dont just blame one person

Carrick is a great player (and I still think that if we didnt have him over the last three seasons we would have lost at least 2 EPL titles if not the CL in 2008 also)

Who knows as it looks like Anderson is out of the club anyway (and its ridiculous in the extreme to compare a brazilian youngster to an experienced Englishman apart from the fact that they dont naturally play in the same position)

She was on X-files, never realised she played footie

Yeah, she's blacked up and stuck in some dreds.

No uglier these days either.

Carrick.

Comfortably.

Talking about promise and potential is fine, but if you don't show anything else by 22 you're unlikely to.

why, what did carrick show at 22 how much did he transfer for at the time?

i get the feeling you've watched carrick more than you have ever watched anderson, hence there is a failure to realise how good anderson actually is?

Perhaps you should learn to spell Pompey before throwing stones in Glasshouses.

Perhaps you should have words with Sky too.

So because someone else says something inaccurate, I can just randomly say inaccurate things at will and assume no one will call me on it, fine.

As for spelling, considering I didn't type the word Pompie, Pompey, Portsmouth or any derivation of any of them, I'm not entirely sure what bad spelling of Pompey you're refering too.

They haven't failed to pay them before, so hard to say they failed to pay them AGAIN.

If you were accurate and said failed to pay them ON TIME AGAIN, then thats all well and good.

Thats my original post, not sure which part you're refering too.

Nor your sentiment, I didn't question your spelling, but the very meaning of what you posted, if I spelt Pompey as, Pomoppeeyyeppe, it would still have the same meaning. Get a grip.

As for Anderson, why do people insist on making excuses for Anderson..... he has to run therefore thats why he's not at his best? Seriously you're comftable making that excuse for a professional athlete. I also rarely see him deployed as a DM, seeing as any game he plays alongside Scholes and Fletcher you can easily see Anderson further up the field for the majority of the game, with one of the other two sitting deep, still playing better than Anderson despite THEM playing out of position and Anderson in his favoured attacking position.

He can't pass, shoot, doesn't read the game well and fouls a lot, he runs the ball too much and doesn't look up so rarely makes the key passes he should, which is why in almost any performance you see Rooney/Berbs/Ronaldo screaming throughout an entire game everytime he trys to score from 30 yards or run through the entire defense himself rather than a simple pass.

He's not very good with a bad attitude, end of really, he wasn't ever good enough and doesn't have the potential to be a long term success at Utd. Fergies cutting his losses which is good, though he seems to have been rather forced into it as a disciplinary thing, rather than actually wanting to replace him.

Maybe this one

Or this one

Or this one...

Or going back as far as 2007 amongst the 47 other threads where you have called them Pompie incorrectly.

So it's ok for everyone to know what you mean.... I think it was fairly clear what was mean't by the post.

I wish the ignore feature actually didn't allow you to reveal posts.

£3-4m to Spurs from WHU IIRC?

Not sure why cost of transfer matters. Look at Veron ;)

I freely admit I haven't watched Anderson much, but if you're saying the 8 or 9 times I've watched games with him in he's been having off-games where he's done nothing much at all, I'll accept that.

What manyoo and Taggart would want in a player as hot and cold as that though is beyond me :)

Come on that is rubbish, players develop at different rates. Some players like Luca Toni develop far later than others.

There will be exceptions, but very rarely in the centre of midfield where you need a full all-round game.

Hasn't Toni being playing at a good level in Italy for over a decade?

we saw the great carrick push up vs city in the first half, great effect that was...

when anderson pushes up, he also realises that neither scholes NOR carrick can defend and thus anderson has to get back to cover them anyway...

anderson has to pick up the ball and run with it, because neither carrick, nor scholes, or fletcher can do. when you are creative and try to run past people chances are you will lose the ball more often than if you stopped the game, turned attack to defence and slide it all the way back to the keeper to launch back to you...ala carrick

He only really played at a high level when he moved to Palermo in 2003, so 25. He only got his first Italy cap in 2004, that's quite a late development. It's ridiculous to rule out a player completely at 22 (especially as he has been far from crap, keeping both Fabregas and Gerrard quiet at times) he clearly has a lot of potential and it would be a waste of time and money if Fergie were to just sell him now. I fully expect our partner ship in a few years time to be a 40 year old Scholes and Darren Gibson at this rate :(

Where does Kaboul fit in at Spurs, don't they have about 6 center backs? Also has he improved from when he was there before?

Woodgate has an injury that must have stumped medicine or something. King is always crocked. So we have Dawson and Bassong as out-and-out CBs. Kaboul wasn't bad at all when he was with us. I'd rate him alongside Dawson on ability, but Dawson has the better attitude and work rate.

Should loan Anderson out for a season somewhere that he'll play every week, see how good he gets

Maybe, but then we really would need to buy another midfielder, at the moment we really only have Carrick, Fletcher, Scholes (but for how long?) and Hargreaves if you can count him. Gibson is just not good enough to be anything other than fringe yet (and perhaps ever) I'll be interested to see how Possebon does on loan this season (I haven't heard anything yet)
