*** Official Kodi (née XBMC) Thread ***

Picked up a Sumvision Cyclone Android X4 box, Quad Core Amlogic S805 supports HEVC/H.265 hardware accelerated up to 1080p playback. Was £40 on offer now back to £45.

XBMC runs great, some of the heavy skins are a little frameratey but they still run acceptably well, I am a stickler for performance so if I can put up with it anyone can.

I think i'll wait until the new Aeon MQ skin comes out before switching to Kodi, can't be bothered messing around with the mod for the gotham one.

RC means non final..

RC = release candidate, this is the last stage before it gets released, there'll likely be a few small changes between RC3 and the final version.

Upgraded mine just now.

My setup is..

Synology running NFS shares with a shared mariaDB (sql) for tracking the viewing.

The first launch took care of the DB migration, it created a copy of the current DB, then upgraded it to the latest one. So I can do my other clients one at a time and continue using them in the meantime.

Waiting for the OpenElec 5 release to hit before I touch the Pi install.

Donating £5 to both projects.

I bought a Nuc Celeron 2830 and am running Open Elec off a USB stick.
It's perfect.

It cost:
£118 for the NUC
£33 for the Ram and also a 16gb USB 3 drive
£151

Plays all my uncompressed Blu Rays with absolutely no issues.
Tomorrow I'll screw it to the back of my TV using the VESA plate that's included.

If I ever need to buy stuff in the future I'd definitely go for an NUC. While the price is a bit higher the flawless playback is worth the extra

Once you've got the scraper set up correctly, and your sources set to tell Kodi the type of media that folder contains, then any of the skins available will show the cover art.

I personally prefer and therefore use Aeon Nox - but any of the skins available from the official Kodi repository (through the Add-Ons menu) are there because they are essentially validated to work correctly with Kodi.
