I'll need to give that a try ta. I'm in the same boat as you with needing to change settings, usually late at night when i don't want the amp disturbing the kids and switch to the TV's sound.

I've tried CEC before and it fails my "just works" criteria.

Then again it was a bit of a ball ache to get the green button mapped on my MCE remote.

I'm resisting buying a Harmony...

I have a harmony and don't use it as cec is so much better. I have to wonder what didn't work for you? Some manufacturers have implemented cec better than others. I use two cec adaptors with two tvs and Sony is better than Samsung.

Buy the kids some ear plugs.

They don't get disturbed, and you still get good sound. Win win? :p

Having trouble connecting to my Synology NFS share on Windows 8 XBMC.

On my Pi, it 100% works.

When I go to browse the share on XBMC Windows, I can see
nfs://IPADDRESS/ but when I 'click' on a share, it doesn't do anything as if it doesn't have permission.

Any ideas?

Phate, I wouldn't suggest doing that - Windows mapped drives need to be accessed via Explorer after every boot before XBMC can see them.

bledd. It's probably password related - see if there's a passwords.xml file in %appdata%\XBMC\userdata which references the NFS share with incorrect details.

I meant as a test :)

Although thats how I have mine setup and I never have a single problem. Although I reboot my HTPC maybe once a month, if that and have standby etc all turned off.

Do NFS shares use passwords? I can't see how the user account is linked to the share..

Before yesterday, I'd never touched NFS.

My old shares are still present on my Pi (SMB) which does have a username/password linked to it. It's working fine on my Pi.

How do you map an NFS share in Windows?

net use Y: nfs://SERVERIP/volume/sharename

Or do you need something else?

I don't use NFS shares (I'm fully Windows, so use SMB), so can't really help beyond looking for some articles!

From what I understand, it shares files with zero security, only control you have is read / read&write. Because of this, it's far less load on the CPU. With a Pi, this makes a big difference

Annoyingly, it doesn't work on my Android phone or my windows 8 machine.

Yet rpi running openelec opens it just fine

I'm fairly new to xbmc and have a problem even with stock theme. Using the latest release on a clean install and theme Ace.

I keep getting dotted lines around the artwork or title names (as can see in pic) and not sure why. Any ideas?

Rensin, which GPU drivers are you using? Any time i've had display glitches with XBMC it's usually been when i've updated mine, always AMD. I'm using the 14.6 ones without issues atm if that's any help.
