New Stuff

Revolutionary Real-Time Physics Engine

Pioneering the next step forward in team sports video game realism, the all-new Real-Time Physics Engine brings real-world highlight reel moments in-game like never before. From face-offs to body checks, real-world puck and player physics trigger true-to-life reactions. Now anything can happen, including the ability to shoot and make plays while lying on the ice.

All-New Hockey Ultimate Team

Build a team from the ground up by acquiring top Canadian Hockey League and American Hockey League prospects and training them to superstardom, or win now by acquiring current NHL superstars. Put your squad in retro jerseys and manage your team’s chemistry to find out which players gel best throughout the regular season and monthly playoffs online.

More than 200 Gameplay Enhancements

An all-new faceoff system, quick dekes, the new Hit Stick, and hip checks are just some of the many gameplay improvements that make NHL11 the most authentic hockey video game experience to date.

All-New Broken Sticks

Broken sticks now affect the action in more ways than one. After snapping your stick on a wicked slapshot or having it broken in two from a hit, the play is never dead. Kick the puck to your teammate or have your teammate pass you his stick if you can’t make it to the bench to get a new one.

Be a Pro Enhanced

For the first time ever, begin your career playing for the Canadian Hockey League’s Memorial Cup. Playing with and against licensed CHL players from the Western Hockey League, Quebec Major Junior Hockey League, and Ontario Hockey League, experience both highs and lows of junior league hockey action. Get scouted, enter the NHL entry draft, and see if you can become the greatest player of all time.

All-New EASHL Dynasties

The EA SPORTS Hockey League takes online play to the next level as championship seasons are awarded with banner-raising ceremonies and new user celebrations that allow you to rub it in the faces of your biggest rivals. Prep your team for their playoff run with an all-new Practice mode.

if i forgot something just post and ill edit the post :)

anyway so who'll be getting this on friday?

i'll be getting it on the xbox360, so if you're up for a couple of games or something just add me

gamertag: dr volki7

Nice one. I'll be getting this on PS3. Need to get the pre-order in quick now to save a wee bit of cash.

Been keeping an eye on the comments from US & Canada. Seems to have some bugs depending on which game type you play. Online play had a 'tuner set' added on day one I think and that's upset a few who say the game now plays like '10 and not like the demo.

Hopefully patches will fix things quickly and the tuner set for online will be adjusted to match offline which is unaffected. Maybe they're just using the Americans as guinea-pigs before the European release.

Anyway, the new demo always make the current version feel worse every year! Bit fed up with the basic face-off in 10 now. Although, players are apparently just shooting goals direct from the new face-off system now. That doesn't seem too well designed.

Still looking forward to it anyway.

One other thing. DLC that can be used online. Noooooooooo.

i hope they change the tuner for the release, the demo felt great compared to 10 and yeh guessed people would exploit the new face off mechanics =(

I really liked NHL 10, but the short time I played with 11 demo I wasn't too impressed. Passing has gone from near perfect (in my opinion) to slow and awkward. Other than that I failed to see any noticeable improvements.

I'll give it another try because I only had a couple of goes on it.

Ultimate Team is an added bonus. I got hooked on the Fifa UT for a couple of months.

i had that problem with the passing as well in the beginning, but they've put in that you have to keep passing longer if you want to cover a longer distance faster. you'll get used to that tho.
in general i think its a lot more realistic now compared to 10 with the new physics engine. skating feels a lot better and you can't easily check everyone anymore :D

Played the demo and felt it was very hard to play - until I played the tutorials. Then you couldn't stop me. Excellent game and I want to buy it, but these hockey games, for some strange reason hold their value....

Even NHL 10 is something like £30 and I don't see many second hand copies up for grabs...

So, might just, and for once take the plunge and grab thr PS3 version this weekend... Its a good game and I do like Ice Hockey..

Demo felt kinda awkward.

I know 10 was much the same from the demo, it's a different world compared to 09 though. I understand it's a more realistic aproach, but in 09 i preferd the quick flick passing over 10/11's receive/cover/shift. Oddball comparision i know, but it feels like the old clunky fifa motion captures circa 97.

That being said, i think ill jump on it this year... the sheer amount of online/social stuff they got going on this year makes it worthy buy.

Hopefully i can pick it up at retail for 40 or less.

Got this yesterday on the 360 and had a few games and so far it's fantastic! There's an update for sliders as soon as you start the game.

Hoping to get really stuck into this year's version as I haven't been fully addicted to it since NHL '99.

Feel free to add me on XBL, ZeroEcho99.

added you, cu ingame some time :)

only 1 day to go but i think we got friends coming over tomorrow so not gaming for me :(

Just got my copy, but now have to wait for the bus home -.-
Anyone already had a go on this, if so any tips or info to share? :D

Mine arrived yesterday so I had a quick couple of offline games at Pro / normal level. Bit of a slog and haven't found goals easy to come by despite the large shot/possession advantage. Had a 2-1 SO loss as Devils v Lightning and then a 2-1 last gasp defeat as Thrashers v Caps.

It's good getting setup 'in the zone' but finding the gaps isn't as easy for me. Think I need to speed up the moves. Screens didn't quite work yet either.

Also set up my BAP player and practiced skating in on the goalie for almost an hour! Was trying the dekes etc. Tried to do the flip forward and hurdle over the keeper. Not on really. :p I did improve my right-left-right shoot deke for shoot-outs.

Takes time to remember and battle at every face-off!

Adding in some custom music packs could be my next move. The Final Countdown was running through my head trying to get to sleep!

might go get this, the demo is really fun but I struggle to get goals, was thinking of renting but you need to buy a online pass if you dont have the code for this, dont you ?

Holy thread resurrection!

I currently run a Xbox 360 NHL league, albiet only a small one for now, and we're looking for new members to join up asap. We're about to come to the end of our first season and we've plenty of spaces available.

For any interested then drop me a PM.

Cheers
Zero

Who here is still playing this? Wouldn't mind having a few games..

Zero - Is your league still up and running? If so I may take you up on your offer.
