*** Official Nintendo Wii U thread ***

Agreed, it needs a price drop AND a good marketing push. Question is - do they do that before the XB1/PS4 marketing campaigns start up or do they do it to coincide with the XB1 and PS4 marketing campaigns and try ride on their coat tails?

Explain the Amazon sales then I'm sure they had more than the 667 extra they sold when they price matched Asda.

If something like the iPad dropped £100 I'm sure they would sell thousands extra.

The Asda deal lasted 8 days then they were out of stock.

The Amazon price drop lasted 7 days then the price went up to £245 (was £270 originally).

The main issue with the Wii U isn't that nobody wants one, it's that nobody even knows it exists, I work at a school, most of the staff members are parents, a lot of them own a Wii, only one of them owns a Wii U, I'm fairly certain a massive majority of the general public don't even know that the Wii U is available and the ones that have heard of it think it's an addon for the old Wii, Nintendo have done a horrible job of communicating their new console.

I mean look at this, it's a recent advert in America.

That's not even a Wii U console in the advert..

More shops have appeared to stop selling it now, Nintendo need to do something soon asda stop fair enough but when a few follow suit and GameStop is one of them it's even worse. Article is at sixthaxis

Do the supermarkets near anyone actually sell Wii U stuff I've never seen it in any of the supermarkets near me?

Lol @ Broken Hope posting all these graphs and figures, are you a statistical data analysis Expert?

Regardless of sales figures I'm really enjoying Pikmin 3 at the moment, along with the Wonderful 101 and Rayman Legends should keep me going till GTA V gets here.:)

Indeed, I've just no idea what he's hoping to achieve, I doubt he even knows himself. Everyone knows sales are poor, we don't need or want charts to show what everyone knows already.

Maybe he wants current Wii U owners to break down and cry live on the forum, sell their Wii U's for £50 a pop and then he'll be happy?

It's frustrating that NSMB on the WiiU has sold so abysmally compared to the previous versions on the Wii and DS. 56.5 million vs. just 8.5! The WiiU NSMB is by far the best in the series. A further sign that consoles need to be shifted for decent games to stand a chance.

Yeah the figures make poor reading but as you say Warbie, consoles need to be shifted for the games to stand a chance.

What I find interesting about these NSMB titles is they will consistently sell copies and stay around the original price as they always have done.

As the Wii U sells more consoles the title will continue to sell.

What frustrates me is sadly we won't get a sequel to ZombiU which in my eyes was a fantastic launch title and did show off the new experiences the console can give and it was unforgiving when you died...loved that, added to the tension and was the first true survival horror experience I've had in soooooo long.

If that had came out later on in the consoles lifecycle it will have no doubt done better...what I hope though is as the numbers inevitably increase as time goes on people purchase the title...I would love a sequel! :p

Only got through the first 2 days on Pikmin so far...loving it and it's just a beautiful game :D Will spend some time on it tonight and over the weekend when I have the chance.

Will probably pick up Earthbound too...listened to the NVC podcast on IGN and they really were singing it's praises, so feel like I should give it a go.

Actually I found that graph interesting

NSMBU hasn't sold abysmally though, has it? Its got something like a 70% attach rate, they honestly couldn't have expected much better than that IMO, it's just there's not actually a lot of Wii U owners.

I sold mine recently, I've lost faith in Nintendo, they've got so many things wrong with the Wii U. If the games improve and it's around £100 I will probably get one, but it's one of the biggest disappointments for me.

True...as I've said, the game will continue to sell as more consoles are sold

Same results either way - the best 2D Mario since the snes days and millions of gamers haven't played it. Frustrating and their loss. Perhaps Nintendo released too many average copy and paste nsmb titles (which sold by the bucket load :/ ) for it to be a system seller?

I can understand not buying a WiiU, or being disillusioned after the first 6 months or so and selling it on, but just as the good games start to come out? Makes no sense to me

Also what's with Wind Waker HD being sold at full price? It's a HD upscale with some mechanic tweaks, HD upscales usually sell for around £20, not over £40.

:

I honestly think that is the problem with it, Other than being more polished it looks the same as the DS and Wii Mario games. Maybe they should have taken a slightly different art direction to make it stand out?

I agree with the Mechanic tweaks like adding the tingle tracker thing to the Gamepad etc i.e a feature relatively nobody had access too.

However it's not simply an HD upscale. If this was the case then the graphics would be the same but in HD...the graphics have been reworked pretty much entirely. Yes it's a similar look but it's not a simple HD upscaling.

Should be £30 tops imo.
