umm same here also, I checked on guru3D and it seems they have the official 84.20's so I'm gonna give them a blast instead.

They enable the features on the card, but you still need extra software to use it (e.g. Purevideo Decoder for MPEG2 (DVDs) and whatever they list as supporting h264 etc.)

They've got a full list of software supporting the features on the website.

Also note that to use the h264/HDWMV decoding you do not need the Purevideo Decoder; that's just for DVDs.

Are these officially out yet? if you follow the link from the main page it still goes to the old set. Has some one just stumbled across the new page by accident before they have uploaded?

Ignore 84.15 & try the 84.20 betas as most people are seeing very large FPS increases in FEAR up to 15-20% as they apparently fix a driver bug which was causing specific slowdowns in FEAR only!

Hi there, same problem as everyone else with Forceware 84.15
However i've been using Forceware 84.20 for a couple of days and there's a big improvement in FEAR frame rate.

With Forceware 81.98, resolution 1152x864, 2x aa, 4x af, and all the eye candy at maximum i had 24fps minimum (sorry i can't find the other figures from the in game test at the moment)

With Forceware 84.20, resolution 1280x1024, all other settings the same i get the following: fps: min= 27, ave= 35, max= 62 / percentage: <25= 0, 25-40= 75, >40= 25

on my 7800gt@499mhz with everything maxed and at 4aa 8af i was getting min17 avg 28 max 59 and with the 84.20 i got min 20 avg 33 max 100. thats a nice improvement in my book.

This is very true, no joke, I got about an extra 8-10 fps with these drivers on fear, its gone from playable to enjoyable and I never usually notice any real difference with driver changes but this time I have

Yeah it has made a big difference. Just goes to show that the nvidia TWIMTBP logo on FEAR means jack when they cannot even get the drivers right!

Quake4 also shows a nice boost in conjunction with the beta patch it is a lot smoother @ Ultra Gfx Quality with 84.20.
