** Official Oblivion Story / Help Thread **

Need a bit of advice on one of the Mage's Guild quests - where you have to go and deal with the cave of vampires and the vampire hunters.

I've sorted out the cave, but do I have to kill the vampire hunters? I was hoping I could persuade them to leave but I don't have the option to and can't try using speechcraft - is killing them mandatory?

Yeah I had trouble with that, at some point during the night the woman you're meant to be following goes round the back of the contract womans house, you just have to wander round there and catch her doing it. Sorry I cant help more than that, I was following her for ages, came back to it at some point during the night and that was that...

If I remember you don't need to kill the hunters.
 
I saw one of the vampire hunters walking round the town at night and spoke to him, then gave me the option to say i had already killed them, they left then and the quest was complete

Was it the leader Elidor? I tried talking to him and didn't have that option, but the other vampire hunters all say to talk to him...
 
Rawr! I'm level 7 now :p Just been closing a few gates around some towns, when I noticed horsies! Especially some cute black ones outside er that down beginning with C...Cyrididiil? So I walked upto one and its eyes are like erm huge :eek: Whats up with that, is that normal? lol

Anyway, what use are horses? I hear they cost a ton to purchase but I know little about them.
 
Anyone know how to open the gates that allow you to enter the main towers in the Oblivion plains?

Now on last stages of the quest where I'm rallying around closing the Oblivion gates, but some of them have huge doors/gates that are shut blocking my way into the tower.

Any ideas?

Horsies are your friend. Just go into battle, take a nice seat on a grassy knoll and point and laugh as your horsie friend stamps on the head of ye foe.

Didnt you get a horse of some friar at the start of the game?
 
Hmm yeah, but I used it for about a minute before I dismounted to attack some bandit iirc. After the fight I looked around and the horsie had buggered off! :/

Anyone managed to undo the vampirism? I tried what it says here:http://www.xboxcircle.com/forum/showthread.php?t=6146 but when I try to talk to anyone they just have a fit at me and say they won't let me feed on em ! I dont want to have to revert to an old save cos I did a load of small quests before I realised I'd been infected.

I fixed the Mage's guild quest I was struggling with by redoing the dungeon without talking to Elidor. Now I've got an even more annoying problem.

The guy from the Brotherhood of vampire hunters won't accept any more of my vampire dust saying 'Come back after the next time you kill a vampire' as I stand there with 2500 gold worth of vampire dust.

Any ideas? I've tried waiting etc.

Speak to Count Hassildor of Skingrad.

It's a definate cure, but be prepared to spend a long time. I think it's part of the game because the story kinda entwines in the main quest.

This story is incredible! Now rallying around all the cities for help to close the last Oblivion portal but there's a problem!!

Won't tell you what the problem is obviously as don't wanna spoil the surprise, but all your skills are needed!
 
Spent the whole weekend playing this, and it's now been ruined for the most part. There's a fighter guild bug during the latter missions where you're meant to look for a body in the cave after clearing it out. A green arrow points to where the body should be, but nothing is at the spot :(

Seen it mentioned on five forums now so I can't progress anymore :(

Awe man that sucks! :(

There's been a few times I've had something similar, but I've gone away, done another quest and gone back for it to work. So don't give up yet, I'm sure there's a way round it.

I just killed the vampires first and went back too the city and spoke too one of them and said i had killed em etc etc.
 
hi just wondering anyone know how to embue swords with magic a recently picked up glass long sword and got grand soul crystal with a greater soul on it and all it wants to let me do is recharge some of my magical items i want to make the glass sword magical ?

There are 2 ways of making a weapon/piece of armour magical. You have to either use the Sigil Stones you pick up when closing an Oblivion Gate, or you have to get access to the Arcane University, where you can enchant items. No other way as far as I'm aware.

Tonight's goal for me is getting into the Arcane University, and getting further in the Dark Brotherhood storyline.

I have a sigil stone, what do I need to do to enchant something? Can it only be done in the Mages Guild places or the Arcane Uni?
