Do we know if the 1600x has got the same silly +20 degree readout as the 8-cores? The Tom's review has an alarming 87 degrees at 4ghz :o Would have hoped that the 6-core units would be cooler than that...

It runs hotter than 1600 yes, whether or not its just readout error or truly hotter I am not sure as we did not use probes. But in testing 1600X and 1600 both reached same max stable OC and whilst doing so 1600 was cooler. :)

Now I do hope your purchasing with OcUK considering no other reseller shares such data. ;)

The 1600X has the offset, because it's a 95W part. None of the other R5s do, since they're all 65W.

Lol, tis my plan to do so, yes, though might be a month or two. I'm too old to fiddle all night (with a new build), so I'd like to see if someone pops out a motherboard with good stable 3200 memory support out of the box :) Appreciate the info, will probably go plain 1600 for now, with an eye on Zen+ further down the line ^^

Strange choice by AMD there... just makes the X look worse, given similar OC potential :S
