**** Official OcUK Christmas Cake thread****

ok, after 4 weeks of moisturising with dry sherry, I will be marzipaning tonight!!!

Quite excited. The colour has turned to a rich brown (more caramel earlier as I haven't used tar, err, I mean, treacle) so its looking good!! Smell is pretty epic too!
 
English Christmas Cake is absolutely horrid, if i'm to eat a Christmas cake then it would only be Stollen.

Baked mine about a month ago, added marzipan last weekend and will be icing it next week. Always use Royal icing, but tempted to use fondant icing as I prefer it :o

First time I've baked my own fruit cake, I usually buy one. I was going to start feeding it with brandy, but didn't get round to it in the end so I just hope it stays nice and moist.
 
We get ours from Lidl as it's a German store so it's a thoroughbred' Stollen, but that's about all we buy from there. Will be going to Costco later on in the week to see if they stock any, doubt it though.

thankyou , i have seen the stollen on there brochures before, i may nip down there some time a get one:)
 
Ok.....

Go easy on me.. this is the first cake I have ever made (Probably made one at school but that was years ago).

Need to add some ribbon and a "Merry Christmas" bit.
