**Official [OcUK] Quakelive thread**

I'm up for a spot of gaming when I get on! 919 in the queue at the moment but I've no idea how long that will take. Anyone still playing?
 
Not at the moment, as stats tracking was turned off to ease stress on the servers when the beta went public. I am guessing/hoping they will turn them on again, and preferably soon! When they do come on again a bonus will be that the skill match making will actually work/change as you play, making things a little bit fairer.
 
How do I update punkbuster? PBsetup doesn't have quake live in its list of games, and I don't know where to put the html file you can get from the site, any help?
 
you need to put the PB files in:

C:\Documents and Settings\<<username>>\Application Data\id Software\quakelive\home\pb

on XP - on vista the path is a bit different.
 
Had another blast last night before bed, just a quickie! I think I saw Cliffy and Cyb5 on there although cyb was having problems with PB (As above). I had no problems with it and don't have PB installed so it must have just taken care of it all for me.

It seems quite easy to play with the OcUK lot, just make sure you add all the people from the first page into your friends list. It seems to be as simple as going to "HOME" and clicking a friend on the right and if they are in a game clicking "join game".

I noticed last night I joined a server that must have been "under my skill level", as it was the only server with a handful of people on. I didn't realise but it takes into account your score; Frag 30, Deaths 10 and your skill and makes a overall "Score". When that is reached the map changes.

For example, last night I was hammering people on a server with around 30 for 10 but some guy was first on the leaderboard with 29 frags and 22 deaths. It's quite clever in that respect though, because pro's can play with not so pro and the score still come out slightly even!

Probably be on for a game tonight at some point if anyone else is about.

Also anyone who hasn't done so, give us your QL name so I can stick you on the list on first page!
 
I'll be giving it a go - I was in the closed beta but never got into it due to starting school and moving house.

I played the Quake games for many years. Started with Q2 in early 1998, then Quake 3 Arena when it came out, and finally Quake 4. I'm extremely rusty and my reflexes aren't what they used to be.....I'll probably get slaughtered :) Unfortunately, I doubt I'll see any of you as I'll be on US servers.

One word of advice - avoid playing Sabotaj 1v1........I remember him from the Q2 days and he was unstoppable :eek:
 
I play as HadesUK. Unfortunately Hades was taken so I had to stick my country on the end of it. You'll usually find me in a CTF game.

Not being good at these type of games (too old and slow) but enjoying it I need to wait for the stats to get up and running so I can play against people at my skill level.

Anyone have an update?

BTW I play as TWMangrove.
 
I had a few games on this last night and was impressed! I can't believe how bad i am though :( During the quake 3 days i was pretty good but now i barely manage a 1:1 kill ratio lol

Nice one lads, I have added your names to the list on page one.

Make sure when you got a spare 5 minutes to add everyone. I took the time other night and now I see at least 2-3 guys online when I login and can easily join the same game as them.

Had some good matches last night, I think I have generally lost some skills and reaction time; and I can't remember map layouts for toffee!! Still trying re-learning is better than learning for the first time like some guys on here clearly are :)


Rebel - did you never play the original release on PC? I can't imagine it being ANY good on a dreamcast...unless you had a keyboard and mouse!
