**** Official OnePlus 8/OnePlus 8 Pro Thread ****

That was my thinking, OP cam for most of the photography and GCAM as a backup.

Haven't actually used GCAM yet but I take it gives you a closer experience to the Pixel?

This is tempting me but I have a 7 Pro. Decisions decisions.
I have a 12GB RAM/256GB 7 Pro so the equivalent of that would cost me £899 plus the cost of a new case and a wireless charger. There is nothing there for me to justify such an expense so soon for anyone rocking a 7 Pro, 7T or 7T Pro, we know these phones will carry on receiving updates for a few years. At best I would look at the 8T/8T Pro and even then I doubt it will be worth the upgrade. But it's your wallet :D

Agreed. On 7T Pro here and since it's 256gb storage I'd immediately be halving that if I went for the base 8 Pro. On top of that there's the hole punch which is a step backwards if you ask me compared to the pop up camera allowing the full screen display.

Yeah. I watched a video of the differences and weighed it up in my brain.

I had Wireless charging on the Nokia Lumia 920 which was released what 8 years ago and ever since then i've never bothered with wireless charging since so why now.

The front facing camera as well I like the popup camera and wish they kept it it feels bit more private and full screen on the front is nice

It's also not even like we're on an old Android release it's 10 on the device.

And when Android 11 is released the 7/7T series should get it at the same time as the 8. If not you can rest assured it will be very closely behind.

Ouch, looks like Amazon have screwed up/been let down. Available with them on 02/05, it was still showing as available 21/04 last night but seen a thread on XDA where people were told they weren't getting their phones today. Some had cancelled pre-orders with OP as well to go with Amazon.

But they've added nearly £100 to the handset only cost, not really a viable option if you are a SIM only contract guy.

Any one used Wonda Mobile? The OP 8 Pro 256 is currently £800 which definitely seems too good to be true. It says it's a Chinese version flashed with a global ROM.

They're a legit company but as with all importers, make sure you pay on a credit card just in case. Also, you'll almost certainly lose the warranty just to save £100.

I've been out of the contract loop for a while now as I've tended to buy the handset and keep a rolling monthly SIM, but wow, are phone networks this out of touch?

One Plus 8 Pro from Three equates to £1,445 over a two year contract for 30GB p/m which my current SIM offers.
Keeping the SIM and buying the phone from Three on PAYG = £1,393, which includes the forced £10 top up and Three's price is probably higher than other handset only prices elsewhere. So there's absolutely zero reason to pay more and tie myself into a 2 year contract.

That's even before the fact I ordered a SIM from Smarty for £10 p/m for 30GB - effectively meaning a £1,225 cost if you buy the phone from Three.

I'll be waiting to see what the Pixel 5 offers before choosing to go that route, stay with the Pixel 4 or move to iPhone. Pixel camera and Google Assistant (which is fantastic on the Pixel due to the instantaneous nature of it) vs having a platform with decent wearables and tablets.

If OnePlus are exclusive to Three, that's probably why the price is so high, but yes it's absolutely crazy. The contract 7T prices last year were appalling as well, especially given the purchase price of the phones (which I'm sure carriers get a substantial reduction on).

Can't remember the last time i kept my phone for longer than a year but i think i'll wait for 8T and see what that offers.
Me neither :p
But until something comes out with all screen display by using some sort of under display camera tech I'll be sticking with my 7T Pro. Can't see anything on the horizon in 2020 anyway.
