**Official Portal 2 thread**

Whats that like 4hours cut down so far? Started at 96 hours and 24hours later its at 68. :/

Not really making much of a difference is it, at this rate it'll be out a whopping 12hours earlier than expected.

It started at 94 hours at 17:00 yesterday. 96 hours would have been at 15:00, which is the time for the scheduled release (+4 days).

Waste of time tbh.

Indeed. A 12hr early release means it will be the middle of the night. Most people won't have time to play until the evening anyway.

Yea a bit of a let down if that's all I was hoping for maybe mid-Sunday UK time but doesn't look likely :(

Still managed to pickup all the defense grid and a couple other potatoes which was fun :)

Ah right, knew it was 90 something, I figured they would have started it on 4 days exactly. Means they've only saved 2 hours then... how pointless, especially for us and other euros if it ends up unlocking around 3am.

Someone might have already mentioned this but there's probably already millions of people already completed portal 2 on PS3 and 360 because it was released on internet other day...it's quite depressing because we're sat here waiting for official release for PC and they're happily playing away!!

And people say PC gamers are to blame for piracy...

Are there any big revelations in the game that no-one was expecting? I don't want to know specifics, I'm just wondering whether there is an "OMG!" moment.

it's funny but the console pirate copies are always out before release and always out before the pc as they only need copying.

Do you just have to be playing one of the game son the site to help reduce the unlock time or do you have to be doing something particular in game?

Yay got 2 potatoes :D All I can get on Audiosurf :p Done my best! Now come on Valve just give it us now hehe.

EDIT: Also the bars are moving 2x faster than yesterday due to your potatoes! :D Potatoes = overclocked CPUs so if you haven't got all the potatoes you can yet get to work! :p

Idling won't work.

The Steam client has no concept of rich presence within a game.

Is there any evidence proving that it doesn't work other than the rumour with no backing that was started on the Steam forum? ;)

Edit: If you're still convinced by the baseless rumour. Compare the Glados@Home site to the Steam stats site, which bases it's number simply on number of people running a game. They're identical (give or take the time it takes to update), because Glados@Home is just derived from those stats. ;)

I'm pretty sure that the clint sets you to 'snooze' pr something if you go AFK? I assume it would use the same check to see if you're idling or not. Plus, number of CPUes shown may not be an indicator of progress.

Either way, slow down! I still have 19 potatoes to get :(

I'm pretty sure Steam stats aren't affected by Snooze/Away/Busy statuses; it's just a reflection of how many clients have XYZ game running. You might be right though. If you're tabbed out and just got the game running in the background you'll not hit those statuses anyway. :)

The number of CPUs on the glados site is just a reflection of how many people are playing each game. Nobody is really sure how Valve are calculating how quickly each game progresses, but presumably it's something like:

People playing * spud multiplier * each games popularity modifier = 0.0xxxxx%

I'm sure you've still got plenty of time to get the rest of them though. :p

Having the games running windowed and simply moved out of the way appears to work, the time spent indicators in my profile show 24hrs+ for audiosurf and I've never spent more than a few minutes on it before now.
Audiosurf is paused btw.
