*** Official Ryzen Owners Thread ***

I've decided to go back to stock clocks and just let XFR do it's thing. I think for a while I'm going to focus on getting voltages as low as i can whilst running stock.

What's everyones lowest idle clock frequency with balanced power profile?

I would be interested in these kind of findings

Maybe start a thread for Ryzen Idle & under clocks

Seen some 1700's @ 3.8 with less than 1.2 but would love to see some stock ultra low ones

My 1700 @ stock win 7 in balanced is 0.832v core speed 1546.86MHz mem @ 3200 HW mon CPU package @ 14.88W

Thanks.

I think the 1700X/1800X may have a minimum clock frequency of 2.2Ghz.

Thanks.

I reckon that could be changed in pstates. I went a bit deeper earlier and found the defaults for pstate1 was 2.2 and pstate2 was 1.5.
How to get these working at the moment is anyone's guess, I couldn't get it to work with 3 states enabled it just locked at 2.7

Hey guys I have a problem with my new build. Thought I'd be a smartass and downcore from 8 cores to 6 cores, so I did it in the bios and it worked ok and was running as a six core processor. So wanted to go back to an 8 core 1700 and went back into the bios to the Downcore bit where the options are 2/4/6/or auto, so selected auto saved and reset in bios rebooted and cpu-z says still 6c 12t, so back into bios do the same again, still 6c 12t. Ok tried something different, went into bios and loaded optimised defaults and checked Downcore was on auto, saved booted and still says 6c 12t. Cpu and HWMonitor both say 6c 12t so I'm out of ideas. Oh and it was working as an 8c 16t earlier and it is an R7 1700. Any ideas anyone?

Bug i think, you'll need to clear CMOS to restore.

Avoid this feature for now via the Bios. Use the Ryzen Master Tool instead to temporarily disable Cores.

I am back and forth over this temp offset in the 1800X.

If I change Ctrl offset to 64 instead of 63, my temps plummet. I idle at 10C and IBT gives me a temp of 38C. I manually set the Sense MI skew to the stock number, my IBT temp is 58C. The weird thing is my idle is all over the place from 42 to 51 at stocks speeds constantly. If I run something like Valley, the temps stop shifting and I lock in at 45C. I am on a custom 360 loop. My ambient is 19C.

Where should my temps fall with an 1800X during something like IBT and games on a custom loop? To test, I went back to stock speeds, on high power with a min of 20%. If I don't change any settings, I idle at 60C in the bios and games hit 75C and IBT runs about 77C at stock settings.

Put Sensi MI Skew back to disabled/default. Download the latest HWINFO build. One of its sensors uses the 20c offset so you get a accurate temperature reading. My Ryzen chip is running cooler than i thought.

Ok Matt, is this a bug that will be fixed in which case I will leave it as a six core as that was what I was gonna get anyway and I will get an upgrade sometime in the future. Thanks.

It should get fixed, but I've no idea when.

You have an 8 core cpu you want to downgrade to 6 for a length of time so you can 'pretend' to get an upgrade later?

Why not disable smt while you are at it?

People have some really strange ideas :D
