The Aorus AX370 is great for the lights too.
Full RGB all over the board, but the orange light showing whether you are in main bios or backup bios, right in the middle of the board, stays orange no matter the colour you set everything else to.

Board vendors take note ;)

I'll just tint my Q code like last time... sharpie the LED, I'll know if the M.2 is working or not lol.

Sooooo officially drained and the 1800x fitted, i'm now in the special 'RAM OC Anonymous' Club.

Someone please tell me how to disable the M.2 HDD LED on this board... Its flashing yellow constantly and annoying me :D Or I need to get the sharpie out?

Time to OC... RAM might have to wait until next week as I don't think my 32GB (4 x 8GB dual sided) is going to play nice.
Turn ROG Effects off in the BIOS.

Not the board fancy lighting, specifically the LEDs for usage - bottom right there is an HDD LED if you use an M.2 the thing flashes blinding orange 24/7 for utterly no useful reason. The Q-Code would be nice if the colour matched your other lights at least but that's not a new thing...

It just turns off the M.2 light, think it might turn off the light on the start button also (on the mobo).

I finished my Ryzen build earlier this evening.

Ryzen 1700
16GB 3200 Corsair LPX
MSI B350 Mortar

Very pleased so far. No overclocking, couldn't get RAM to 3200mhz but stable at 2933mhz, happy to wait for further updates.

Initial post is a bit slow, but the actually boot of Windows is very snappy. System feels better than my 3770k, not night and day, but definitely better. Both at stock.

Pleasantly surprised with the performance and noise of the Wraith Spire cooler, I was expecting it to be awful. It's barely audible.

Played a couple of rounds of BF1 earlier, the CPU barely stretched its legs with my RX480, less than 30% load, so much untapped power waiting.

This is what I've done with mine, very neat, and it stops all the glow that I saw before from where I sit:

I could double that up probably to stop all the light, but it does the job for me as it is.

I found exactly the same with bf1 and my rx480, also with the same ram at the same speed. Hopefully the May bios updates will get it up to 3200.

My board died again on 604 bios.
U crazy running that BRICK BIOS ??

What i did was solder 2 red LED's in to RGB plug and i got nice CPU block light off Motherboards instead of molex or other **** :) Since i go for Red/black as always its perfect mod.

I think EK should sell thing like that for few quid :D

Looks gr8 but will never work for me i need 3x 5inch slots hehe. When i will need more Radiator surface im going 1080 external nova. That best can cool passively :) Almost as big as my car radiator. Just not fan of having Radiators In the case :D

I believe you can disable Qcode ;] there is a little software from asus which disables it after successful boot into windows.

Getting my B350M Mortar next week, also fitting it with a 1700 and 16GB LPX. Please share any future experiences you have. :)

Been an absolute breeze so far, I've no idea why people have had issues with these Ryzen set ups?

Maybe because I was late to the party and waited for a good board?

So if your Mortar is anything like mine, it'll come with version 1.0 of the BIOS firmware, 1.20 is available on their website and is a doddle to install as expected. Do that first:-

http://download.msi.com/bos_exe/7A37v12.zip

I also had a niggly problem when I first built it where the CPU wasn't recognised, a reseat fixed that, so install and remove it a few times before you stick the cooler on.

Then the rest of the setup, OS install etc, no different than an Intel based system.

It was either this MSI Mortar or the Gigabyte GA-AB350M-Gaming 3. I'd read about a couple of issues regarding the Gigabyte boards in general, so I think the best M-ATX board is the Mortar.

The only thing is lacks is a USB 3.1 Gen 2 port, they are all Gen 1, not a big deal for me.

The other small positive that made my decision was the system fan headers, there are 3 x 4 pin headers on the Mortar which suit my case more.

Yeah :( getting an asrock Taichi once they come back it stock cos I'm fed up of this board being crap and dying

It has about 20 5.25" bays at the front don't worry... double width case ;)

Nearing the end of configuring my system now. May have gone a bit overboard.

Nvme for Windows, apps, etc.
1tb ssd for vm's
1tb ssd for games.
500gb ssd for my lightroom catalogue.
A number of hard drives

And with 3.975ghz clocks and 64gb ram, it's butter smooth and incredibly responsive.

Now just to get my ram over 2400 and hope they implement downclocking at idle.

Though I haven't done any gaming yet on it really - hope to hit some of that tomorrow.

And I hope Vega will be good, as it'd be nice to have an all amd system.

Asus have brought a program out called zenstates for the CH6. I'd imagine it'd get rolled out to other boards soon to allow downclocking.
I really hope Vega is good too. Have you tried using insanely high timings on your ram? I've learned today that setting 30s then allowing to boot and bringing that down is far more forgiving than auto timings.
