I am looking for a replacement battery for mw wifes galaxy s2. An official samsung battery is £20 and the knock off's are £10. Anyone had any issues with the cheapos? I was going to err on the side of caution and get an official one, but given the age of the phone i wasn't sure if it was worth it.

I had nothing but bad experiences with cheap batteries for laptops. I'd guess phone batteries will be the same.

However, how "genuine" are the official batteries? Be careful when buying from eBay etc.

For the sake of £10 I wouldn't even consider the knock off!

Too many horror stories of safety/fire risks from them. Also most of the cheap knock offs won't have anywhere near the capacity of the official ones.

But I guess it depends on the quality of the knock off, there are some good replacement ones available, but they often end up being nearly the same price as the official ones would be.
