"Users on Reddit who’ve tried out the functionality report that Sonos only seems to support standard DTS Digital Surround, so you won’t be able to get the most out of sources that use the higher specced DTS-HD and DTS:X formats. If you try and play DTS-HD, it reportedly comes through as regular DTS. The Sonos app shows a small “DTS Surround 5.1” badge when a speaker system is playing the format.

Other niggles you might need to watch out for are whether your TV supports DTS audio. LG’s popular CX and C1 OLED TVs, for example, don’t support DTS, which means you’ll run into issues if you’re passing DTS audio through them via HDMI. Sending audio directly from an external source to your Sonos equipment should work, though."

Odd. Maybe the Sonos app reads it as DTS but the lg passes it through as something else?

Weird.

See I'm on the fence about getting the sub too but not if this stuff will become an issue, it's a niche issue I'm sure

Yeah but Chris you said you have the Arcana fury now.

The LG CX doesn't support DTS so you are bypassing this by going through that device.
I do but it is not cabled up yet as I'm still looking for a HDMI switch. I get multichannel PCM for any HD soundtracks.

The TV won't pass it through as anything it just won't work. If you use a Nvidia shield it will pass it through as LPCM.

Please excuse my ignorance on this topic in general but what's LPCM?

I just want to be able to play UHD 4k Blurays with surround but I think with my current kit, I'll hit a dead end.

:'(

Maybe I'm confused with Atmos. :D

Reminds me I really need to find a switch.
There's just so much confusion surround DTS Etc

I love Sonos for its simplicity, my family can use it without having to toggle settings etc but when it comes to this stuff, I wonder if I need to look else where. Not sure, I wouldn't want to buy a bluray player and find it still doesn't function with DTS :(

It's basically uncompressed audio. Sonos added it in a while back. So if you can't pass DTS it usually comes through as LPCM or PCM, but does mean you can play your disks etc. However the TV itself won't do this through the built-in app. You would need a device like Nvidia shield or if using a Blu ray player it may also do it. Give it a go and see :p

Yeah, with how much things cost these days, I'm fed up with some things not having certain formats etc so been thinking about it myself and possibly moving to Sony HTA9 or HTA7000.

I moved away from my LGCX and gone with a Panasonic JZ1500 now as I don't game on it and it supports every single format possible and in terms of movie quality it's absolutely phenomenal picture quality wise.

Finally gone for it. I don't think I'll get it better than this. Jan sale price plus Mrs staff discount makes it almost seem a fair price

Hope it's worth it :)

Im pretty sure my LG CX is the problem here but just incase, I thought I'd ask here too.

I have a Sonos Beam and Ones as rears. Apparently Sonos now supports DTS (finally)

My set up goes like this. BEAM to LGCX via ARC, PS5 to TV.

games etc work perfectly well in 5.1.

I wanted to try some 4k Blurays now that DTS is supported by Sonos. Spiderman 2 worked fine, displayed as 5.1 in the app etc and sounded great to me. As expected

I then tried The Shining 4K and am only getting 2.0 stereo.

Now, I know that the LGCX doesn't support DTS passthrough what so ever so I'm thinking here lies the problem? But why would Spiderman output some sort of 5.1 and The Shining only put out 2.0?

I'm guessing it's down to what the disc supports and what the PlayStation is able to convert to before reaching the TV but I don't really know.

I'm thinking the lack of DTS passthrough is the key though?

You could log a ticket to Sonos but remember there are many different audio formates. What is your TV set to under eARC settings? Is it pass through?

It was set to Auto, just changed to passthrough but no change for that particular movie.

Has to be that LG isn't accepting the signal, so it's just downgrading it to 2.0 but just weird that another movie does come through at 5.1

Hi what is the other movie encoded in? IE Dolby Digital or DTS?
