Well this has come through and is an excellent idea I think.

OcUK can start its own guild now and transfer it when game is released.

I think it would be better with a Guild leader who has time to manage a guild and enjoys to. That's not me.

So, If you put your name down, I'll add you to this post and we'll decide who will be the Guild leader.

This is also wonderful news, as I think the game must be close to release :)

May the force be with you, always... terrible, I know :)

So, once again, for people interested in how guilds work in SW:Old Republic:

Star Wars the Old Republic Guild Information

EDIT: Can you indicate if you want to play on the lightside or the darkside.
EDIT: Can you also state what you preferable server type is (PVE,PVP etc.)
EDIT: Can you also state if you want to be guild leader, stating a reason, such as avatar12m has would be useful.

Well this isn't a contract, just show your interest and we can work on guild now, perhaps build website etc.

I will be buying this title without a doubt.

Anyway, anyone interested in the game I see no harm signing up now as you can always drop out before launch :)

what a nice feature!
is the release of this game still down for around sept '11?

Tricky question.

Some stores have it set for release very soon, but as others have mentioned it needs some public testing first. How long this will go on for is anywhere between 3-6 months I'd say.

Because of the movement surrounding this game and the general buzz, like creating this great 'create a guild' option, I suspect it may be out by about September, if not earlier.

I'd be surprised, and more than a little concerned if that was the case. But we'll see.

Perhaps, but this game has been worked on for a very long time already, by a huge team too.

Potentially it could, and probably is a completely different monster altogether then all the other mmorpg's. Times have changed, maybe this needs a lot less testing you know, due to better error handling techniques or whatever, in house.

Just because FF 14 spent a long time in BETA(which turned out pointless in anycase) doesn't mean every game has to, tech has improved, software tools have and team sizes also.

Eventually some mmorpg will be released without any public testing, probably a demo instead.

Working on an MMO internally for 50 years doesnt help you deal with the issues that crop up when 20,000 people are active on servers. I've seen oh too many MMOs who have suggested that they didnt need a long public beta phase because they tested stuff internally then crash and burn at release. The kind of phrase like "times have changed...needs a lot less testing" are the kinds of phrase which 2 months after launch come back to haunt people. MMOs NEED significant testing because in MMOland, first impressions really do count. Much, MUCH better imo, to have a significant public beta phase of 9 months and release in the best possible state of stability, balance, content, bugs, exploits, databases, level speeds and flow and pvp... than conclude that your limited internal testing is sufficient and release largely untested by significant public numbers and timeframes and suffer the word of mouth which comes from the results of that.

You're probably right, but you never know :) mmorpg have to evolve sometime, it's the law of nature :)

Anyway, do you fancy being an officer or putting your name up for guild leader?

Oooh no thanks, been guild leader too many times in too many MMOs over the years, never touching that with a barge pole again. Likewise being an officer, I find that both sap all the fun out of an mmo and you spend more time administrating and drama fighting than actually playing and enjoying. Its just ordinary membership in games I like now. :)

I can relate to that ;)

Not wanting to put anyone off or anything, we just need a potential emperor(a slightly evil victor meldrew personality would be useful) or luke skywalker :)

Maybe an admiral ackbar would be ideal actually(mature in years and experience), as luke(me obviously) isn't much of a leader come to think of it...

There hasn't been much movement on this thread lol

Remember, you don't need to buy the game if it turns out dodgy.

But starting a OcUK Guild now might get some benefits from the developers or something.

I have a feeling this is going to be BIG and it isn't going to take THAT long before it is out.

So please stick your name down if you're interested, and one of us can start the Guild creation process and do a good professional job of it while we wait for the game :)

Just a note regarding this thread.

There is actually an official page on the official website for specifically guild creation, so it will actually be fun sorting it out, and maybe there are things you can select like badges or suits or something that have limited availability, thats why I think it might be a good idea to get this going as soon as possible.

For anyone who wants more info on how this official guild system works, here's the link:

Light side, PvE

Added.

Right we'll be creating the Guild next week sometime, so please sign up as you can leave whenever you like, but I can almost guarantee every Sci-Fi mmorpg will love this, most mmorpg fans in general hopefully!

This is the follow on from Knights of the Old Republic, but it is in mmorpg format, it's worth trying just for that!

Gee, I sound like a salesman...

monkeymatt, can you let me know in this thread if you're still interested in setting this guild up, we'll all have a hand in it if everyone wants to.

The force is going to be strong in this one.

Hi all,

Apologies for my absence, I was on holiday.

It seems that one or two(or even more by now) have created their own guilds.

The main point of creating this thread was to get a decent guild name, I'm pretty sure we can somehow change the type of server sooner to release date.

I'll go ahead and create a guild(I'll be playing pre-release as I have been registered to) if folks are still interested in joining, but I would prefer a vote of some sort for the name of the guild first.

So let me know if you're still interested and also it would be good if you include a possible guild name.

Cheers
