******Official Tekken 6 Thread******

no.
no.
no.

its a complete lagfest. i have never , ever had a nice clean, fluid feeling game of Tekken on my ps3 online. i tried at the start, and every few months. its like you are situated in a vat of treacle, and bound inside a fat suit. it feels horrible, laggy, bad. bad. bad!

dont know what sf is like online but tekken was really terrible.

it needs a major code re-write.

yes
yes
yes

I only ever played with friends and it was lag free, i don't know if the netcode for finding random games was rubbish but that isn't what i was referring to. What i was referring to was how SF4s gameplay mechanics suffer heavily online thanks mainly to hit priority messing up even slightly mistimed combos (something that happens often due to the inherent lag you get when playing online).

Whereas with Tekken, as the gameplay is about movement and using the correct height attack to outdo your opponent (as opposed to just the most powerful move in SF4), the inherent lag didn't affect the game mechanics anywhere near as much.

anyone+Bryan = wtfpwnage though...

mid kick, run smash, punch, backfist, big kick...2nd round.

and that was all without a sweep!!

:D Also another few moves I like to throw in for the people who are more prepared for Bryans flurries.

The Sidestep Elbow
Chains of Misery
The Punch and stomach lift
And for an opening suprise sometimes I do a back back and kick, Cant remember the move name but he throws himself forward with both his feet in sort of a spin. Works wonders if you following by a roll and vault as you end up on the floor after the move :D

ahh i see, my tekken game is based around sidestepping my opponents and throwing them;) try that online when it requires split second timing and 9/10 i will mistime and it all goes wrong!

i play hardcore 2p on a single console but online its just painful like walking in concrete!

dont forget the double knee combo. bryan is amazing cos you can do real simple combos that do serious damage, and he has no real weakness either!

Problem with this one, is that whilst I loved the very first Tekken on PS1, no other game has really given me that 'wow' since in regards to fighting games...

It does look good however, but like all of these follow ons released from past gen to new gen, it just doesn't seem groundbreaking..

Pleased to be proved wrong, Tekken holds a place for me, so high hopes for this one..

this will be the next game i will take up properly.

tekken has its own set of problems in the online scene, its a different set of problems since its a different game but its just as bad as sf. the problem with tekken is that chars with slow, powerful, LOW moves have a nice advantage online (easy to block offline because you can see it coming). this can be devastating because tekken has a huge game based around oki and wake ups.

offline scenario: scrub tries to use slow low move, then gets punished for having his unsafe move blocked... possibly half life gone
online scenario: scrub tries to use slow low move, he successfully hits since the other player doesnt block in time due to lag, scrub now has a chance to do some wake up rape/combo.

the scrubs of tekken will be the ones abusing these moves and will probs be the same scrubs who abuse reversals in sf. if they connection is good though, then its gonna be awesome but thats the way it is with all online beat em ups.

anyway i cant wait, im gonna **** you all up with bryan ;)

Too true, bryan's snake edge (df+3) for example was a killer move in online mode. I think I successfully managed to parry that move like twice online - even when you know its coming it still manages to hit.
But I did hear over at the zaibatsu forums that the net code is being redone so hopefully (fingers crossed) it will be better - it will still never be offline standard of course but better is a good start.

Annoyingly, this has failed to make the cut for a day 1 purchase.
I have Katamari Forever coming out at the end of next week, plus PES 2010 and Uncharted 2 next month.
Tekken, Batman and King of Fighters are all going to have to sit on the back burner while I complete Uncharted and/or Katamari (PES 2010 will remain until PES 2011 comes out, it's an ever-present fixture in my collection).
That's a pretty big deal for me considering my very long term relationship with both fighters and my Batman obsession.

Btw, don't all be exchanging tips on Bryan unless you've already played 6, he's the most tinkered with character. He felt a little tamer when I played it, I think they've weakened him to be in line with the rest of the characters, which is only fair really.

I have abused tekken 3 at uni but havent played really played any since - have i missed out on much? would i need to play any to help with 6. Mr Fury was my main character; i cant wait to play this too. I never had decent opposition at uni so dont know how good ill be. is DR worth gettin on PSN in prep for this?

I was the same until i got Tekken:DR. Brian is pretty much the same in that, i was able to defend myself relatively reliably. Jin however (my main), completely different, not one move was the same. He still kicks ass though.

The official website for this game is brilliant, I was expecting the usual barren wasteland of a single teaser trailer and some console logos but theres so much content, just spent about an hour looking through some character info and screenshots, also:

I've always loved Tekken, but i think SF4 has taken my love away from Tekken.. Can't see myself getting into the tedious memorizing of the long combo's needed to play.

Actually comes to think of it, i'm probably more excited to see what this bundled wireless stick will be all about. I'm excited to see if this Hori Wireless stick will have Sanwa parts, though unlikely, i'm hoping it's moddable to accomodate for Sanwa. Then I'll probably get it to give myself a fun little project to get my teeth into.

Been destroying this in Bangkok arcades recently; some good players here, looking forward to the PS3 version + my Hori Fightstick.
