Excellent little book on 101 whiskies to try before you die and a few of the cheaper whiskies to get me started (and keep me going for a while). It'll be a lifetime of misery working through the list :p
 
Been looking for the perfect jacket for approx 6 months now and purchased this on Saturday. Been for a walk last night and this evening to test and its got to be one of the nicest jackets I have ever worn. Usually I hate buying celebrity endorsed clothing but this is an exception. I was roasting with just a t-shirt on underneath.

How are you finding the Jura superstition? One of my favourites, so smokey and dark. Try some of the other Jura whiskies.

Brilliant value for money. Dunno if it will be on that list but try the Dalmore 12yo. Another great whiskey in that price range.


Also, Jack Daniel's single barrel is awesome. I was skeptical when recommended it as Jack Daniel's is usually pretty mediocre but this stuff really is good. Nice little kick from the 43%.

Just using the list as a guide so won't be restricting myself too much! Found myself already buying and drinking the same whiskies over and over again so thought it would be a nice liftetime hobby to meander through.

The Superstition is decent enough and certainly better and more interesting than the 10 year old expression. It's nice and smokey but pretty sweet to boot, definitely understand the butter popcorn references. I couldnt' see myself drinking it all night long but it'll get finished no bother. I'm sure I liked it more the first time I tried it...ah well.

Not a big bourbon drinker truth be told, I've definitely tried Gentleman Jack and was pretty underwhelmed. My brother may have had a bottle of single barrel that I might have tried but I'd need to ask him as I'm probably misremembering.

For single barrel, think gentleman jack but with a kick. If you're not a fan of bourbon the I retract my recommendation though.

I misread what you said and was just recommending some stuff in that price range. Still, downloaded a sample of that book and it looks pretty good. Might buy the full thing and adopt your idea. :D

Haven't tried the expression.
