Nope.Any issues with warranty when buying from the EU store?
Any rumours or thoughts on 2.5GbE port switches and gateways making an appearance that aren't a fortune? I know there was a UDR Ultra rumoured for a while
As long as he hasn’t gone to Alta Labs….Chris Buechler left Ubiquiti Sept last year by the looks of things. I remember him more of Netgeate / pfsense.
TBH not bothered in the slightest where he goes or doesn't go.
I get that. If you’ve ever read any of my other posts about him, I do not consider him to have made a positive contribution and I’m really starting to get behind Alta Labs as the natural successor product in the UniFi space so if he ended up there leading their router project, I would be properly grief-stricken.
I like the Crosstalk videos, I would just say do one thing at a time. Do the VLANs first and then set up PPSK.Any preferred recommendations for set up or tweaking guides for Unifi networks? I've been putting off sorting out the new network for weeks and might try and rectify this weekend. Have come across Mactelecom Networks, Crosstalk Solutions and Unified IT on YouTube but there's so much content, takes a while to review. I need to sort out setting up separate VLANs for the CCTV (and any other additional steps for better security), PPSK, channel and power tweaking and a guest network.
When you say Dream Machine, are you referring to Dream Router? (Not the rack mounted one).I'm starting to consider a home network upgrade. Currently run a aging asus router, and OpenVPN is no longer supported properly.
My setup is a combo of 2 Asus routers, one in AP mode, a 16 port unmanaged switch with a lot of the IoT controllers attached + handling half a dozen wired connections around the house, and a 4 port 2.5G switch handling the connection between main PC and Server. Another small switch in the lounge for various AV wired connections.
Thinking in replacing Asus router and AP with Dream Machine, a few switches. Dream machine seems to be worth the extra £50 on top of the Express?
Also is there any magic in their cheaper switches that warrants replacing my existing cheap unmanaged boxes?
You went get the single pane of glass management for your switches if you use a UniFi gateway. The UniFi switches allow you to port channel, assign VLANs etc. But apart from that, they're not that clever at all. Depends what you want to do with them. If it's for the TV, PlayStation etc all on a flat network with no VLAN requirements, you don't need UniFi switches for that. Also is there any magic in their cheaper switches that warrants replacing my existing cheap unmanaged boxes?
Yes I did, sorry I forgot their rackmount stuff was called the same. When you say Dream Machine, are you referring to Dream Router? (Not the rack mounted one).
I was waiting for one but, they are sold out and strong rumours the replacement is going to be in the ultra line and may not act as an AP. Someone more knowledgeable probably has more details than me.
