Has anyone set separate dns servers for vlans? I tried to use cloud flares familysafe dns server 1.1.1.3 for my kids device WiFi, adding it as the dhcp server in their vlan, but testing the WiFi I can still access inappropriate sites. Do I need to reboot the gateway perhaps?

What DNS server are you being served by DHCP on the device, if it’s an existing connection it may be using an existing lease and thus the wrong DNS servers, you also need to consider the DNS Cache on your device.

I rebooted the devices but I’ll force a new lease and see if that changes things.

Yeah make sure that it's definitely getting the right DNS servers first, if you can't tell, change a device to those DNS servers and see if that sorts the issue, if you're manually changing them and not getting desired results, it's not due to anything locally.

You may be better running a pi-hole or something and using lists and offering out the respective DNS server based on the VLAN, we do similar at work whereby our DNS server will use lists to filter out traffic we dislike and force all client devices to use our DNS by redirecting DNS traffic to our host.

Having a really weird problem tonight. My U6 Pro is happily taking connections but isn’t passing on any network traffic ie I can’t access any local resources nor the internet. Even a hard reboot didn’t make any difference. I’m fairly certain it’s limited to just 2.4ghz traffic but can’t confirm.
I can access the U6 Pro though Network and it’s telling me everything is working perfectly so I’m a bit stumped particularly as I’ve not changed any settings and it was working perfectly fine this morning. Any ideas what the issue could be?

I was going to say, I know Ubiquiti kit is expensive, I own enough of it but £500 is a bit much.

I get it, it’s a nice rack but £500 for what is £30 of sheet metal bent into a rack is well beyond me (yes I know there is a lot more value in a chassis than the sheet metal).

The 42U one isn't too bad but the 12U ones are expensive but pre-assembled ones normally are a bit more, even though I prefer flat-pack ones depending on location.

They have released a whole bunch more add-on bits this morning.

Never mind. Seems to have sorted itself. Still a strange issue considering the problem persisted across reboots.

A 42U rack that doesn't have welded sections (like all the cabinets Rittal make) is going to be fairly poor quality, and it's an additional $500 for shipping in the USA. It's more expensive than APCs more budget cabinets
