*** Official Ubiquiti Discussion Thread ***

The UDR7 has 4 x RJ45 ports which I had understood to be 3 x LAN and 1 x WAN, plus one SFP+ port for a second WAN. Looking at ports settings in the control panel, RJ45 port 4 has a drop-down to choose between LAN or WAN and SFP+ Port 5 has the option for WAN2 or LAN.

Does anyone know if the following configurations are possible?:

- Port 4 set to LAN to make it a 4-port router and use the SFP+ port with an RJ45 adapter for WAN, or
- Port 4 remains as WAN but set Port 5 to LAN and use this as a 10GB link to a separate switch

I don't have an SFP to RJ45 adapter to test and don't want to go an buy one if it's not going to achieve anything.

Cheers.
yes you can configure it like that, i used the sfp+ as a wan port but have also switch it round to the port 4 for testing

Yes to both I think.

You probably can’t set port 5 to WAN 1 because you’ve probably set port 4 to WAN 1 already.

Any port should be able to be configured between WAN and LAN according to the information I saw.

There's information? The instructions in the box where basic to say the least - I guess the expectation is that anyone who's buying an Ubiquiti product doesn't need the basics explaining to them.

Anyway, good to hear that's the case. Will plan my network expansion accordingly!

I watched a few reviews online :p

Just ordered an Express 7, the start of the journey! I am trying to keep the setup basic for now but may add another AP depending on how this performs :).
Quite impressed with it all, just ordered another express 7 as an AP for upstairs then a U7 Lite for the garage.
I was weighing up getting a proper access point, but these little expresses are good

Is anyone using the Unifi Flex Mini 2.5G? and if so is it capable of the following use case scenario?

I currently have my 2.5G FTTP ONT directly connected to the main switch (VLAN100) this is then sent over a trunk with all other VLANS to my Proxmox environment where OPNSense resides.

I only have 1 run to the ONT location currently but I have the need to connect more devices... would the Flex Mini be able to assign VLAN100 to one port and then lets say VLAN 10 to the other 3 with the final port being the trunk link back to the main switch? (I seem to remember this was not possible with the original mini?)

Hopefully I explained that all coherently :p

It will work but you will limit the bandwidth available on the connection - if one of the devices connected to the switch is downloading from the internet at 2.5Gb then you've saturated the uplink in both directions (ONT sending data over the uplink, and the same data coming back down from your OPNsense) so you won't then be able to upload at line rate. In your situation you'd be better off with something that has 10Gb uplinks.

Good point.... Ill see what else I can find that fits the bill as in hindsight some POE would also be good :)

Ordered a second AP, been hanging my DECO mesh off of Unifi but it's turd in all honesty. U7 Pro Wall mount, but with the fancy schmancy desk stand, I may get another one of these as I have been running my U7 Pro sat there in the most sub-optimal place ever, and don't want to start mounting things when I plan on moving in the next 12-18 months.

My wife approved rack ;)

I've recently downsized everything, moved to two small optiplexes for home server use and swapped to a 1522+ for storage.

There's a UXG-Fiber in there with a 10GbE link to a Flex 2.5G and a 10GbE link to the Synology.

Wall Pro got here and seamlessly installed. One thing I forget each time is they seem to only ship me EU Power, I caved and bought one of their fancy injectors just because I couldn't be bothered with another order and it only came with EU and it was a clover leaf power. Had to dig to the very bottom of my cable box to find a spare.

I just purchased a UDR7 from the UK store and should be with me in the next few days. This is to replace a Linksys MX5600 that was supplied from Toob. Is it a case of plugging it in and logging into the router to set up. the SSID and such and it should work ? Apologies im a bit of a network newbie. Is there any special settings that I need to mirror from the Linksys over to the UDR7 ? Cheers

Make sure you have your ISP login info and see if Toob needs particular settings to work. Outside that, then yes, it should go just as you describe.

I have logged into the ISP supplied router and I cant see any login info or anything else out of the normal.
