Finished installing a UNVR instant on the weekend.. the common issue of migration failing on some cameras and a physical access 'reset' required (PITA!) aside, the only reason for this is support have not helped over the last 2 months with a sudden base memory jump of 18% and a memory leak that meant every 2-3 days it would need my UCG-F rebooting!..

In one way, it's a shame as the UCG-F was performing flawlessly and perfect for a small 'Protect' setup.. but it is what it is.. We tried early access updates but nothing worked, including a full 'manual' restore of settings after a factory reset, so it was either stop using protect, or move to another appliance.

I essentially just put it exactly where my Hikvision NVR was, I have a small wall mounted monitor with HDMI cable still there (So the inbuilt viewport works well) and all my cameras/doorbell/chime cables already went to that same location, so installing was a breeze (well, aside from 2 cameras not adopting and needing a hard reset with physical access!)..

Performance is fine, it's around 50% memory, 30% CPU most of the time, and the WD Purple Pro HDD is fairly responsive and I've not noticed any real lag compared to the NVME in the UCG-F.

I'm getting fed up with retailers that sell EU stock to UK customers. I had 2 UniFi devices delivered this week (UXG-Max & UACC-POE+-USBC) and both have been EU spec.

As delivered neither device were usable. At least the retailer that I bought the UACC-POE+-USBC from knew it was EU spec so they sent an EU power adapter. It'd be nice if the plug on the UACC-POE+-USBC fitted into the adapter they supplied.

If someone is selling EU spec kit they should clearly say that's what it is.

Best just to buy direct, don't encourage these resellers. I got bitten by one as well on my first order.

Just on this. Totally agree. I bought another Zyxel AP recently. It's the little NWA55BE unit that sits on a sideboard. Anyway, I bought it from the Zyxel UK store but it came with an EU plug. :/

Reached out to support to say it wasn't good enough and they apologised, said they wouldn't have UK official stock until September so told me to keep the unit and refunded me the price. Happy days!

I then sourced a suitable UK plug with the correct barrel connection. I think it was £8 for a proper plug from a reputable electrical company. :)
 
As I'm using a Cloudflare tunnel for my immich server and due to the 100Mb limit with CF, I have to sign in to my LAN credentials to upload videos to the server when at home.

I've never used teleport before but could I use that to do the same thing when away from home?

What's the advantage of Cloudfare over hosting your own Wireguard (or other) VPN?

Hey All

My RingDoor Bell (2nd Gen) is playing up, drops off the Unifi network then refuses to rejoin it, I’ve created a 2.4 broadcast channel and tweaked the settings, anyway got on the Ring support and after an hour they said the device was faulty and I was out of warranty (2023 purchase date) and they’d give me a code for 35% discount on my next Ring purchase, feels like I’m getting ripped off by them? Has anyone experienced compatibility issues between the two brands? And what would be my best move going forward as we need a camera doorbell
