Official Unlocking of Iphone 3GS

Hi Guys

I’ve currently got a 3GS, however its having many problems (the vibrate and lock key only work around 5% of the time) and Apple wanted £125 to fix it. My girlfriend also has a 3GS on o2 which she bought outright from the apple shop back in Jan 2010.

She’s recently just got a new phone and has said I could have hers. How can I go about unlocking hers as I assume it will be locked to o2?

If she bought it outright from Apple it won't be locked.

Not so sure about that. Early days of 3GS they were still locked IIRC (O2 SIM came in the pack). Since Orange came on board I think that went away.

If it's locked it's no bother - O2 will unlock for free to about £15.
