Hi All,

I'm going to be without an internet connection for a few weeks whilst I move house, most of my games require an internet connection to play as they are on Steam or Origin

Are there any interesting games at the moment I can download whilst I have my connection that I can play offline? I mostly play FPS but quite happy to try anything that's recommended

Thanks

i would have thought if you set steam in to offline mode most of your games should still be playable with out internet connection?

why not try some of the older games you have, other wise there are a large number of good games on : good old games
which are cheap. may be the witcher saga
or
FTL
STAR WARS: KNIGHTS OF THE OLD REPUBLIC
neverwinter nights
SID MEIER'S ALPHA CENTAURI
TOTAL ANNIHILATION
hostile waters
pokemon GBA
yugioh GBA

i think you'll probably want something more along RPG level to keep you out of trouble.

Plenty of books to read and movies to watch as well.

I had a load of problems last time I tried offline mode, that was some time ago though

Do you still need to set it when the connection is available and will any changes up load once a connection returns?

Thanks for the list

Steam is fine with offline mode but you have to be online first and then select offline mode or you will be in for a world of pain. So don't try to go offline while you are offline.

Yeah, the key thing with steam is to restart in offline mode while you are online. Then it's worth shutting down the PC, disconnecting your network, then booting back up and trying to launch steam to see if it runs.

Some people say it needs to phone home every 30 days, no idea if this is true, but you could probably get away with tethering your phone to do this.

Alternatively, buy some games from GoG which are all DRM free, grab a Humble Bundle.
