Right, I've had my fill of online RPG games and want something a little more personnal. Are there any offline RPG games out at the moment that anyone recommends? I need atmosphere! Or are there any I should wait for (no more then a week!)?

Arcanum was a pretty good RPG.

Also that new Morrowind game is coming out some time this year. Also have a look at the 3rd Morrowind game was a good game.

um...no.

Replay (or play if you havnt), Baldurs Gate I,II, Planescape Torment, NWN + expansion packs (especially Hordes of the Underdark).
Anything post-1762? ;)

BG2 may be showing its age, but its still the best pure RPG you can get. 150+ hours of entertainment, and I bet you can get it for a tenner now. Get the expansion pack for a few more quid and there's another 50+ hours in that too...

What about KOTOR 1&2?

I'm presuming you have played Morrowind?

If not, I recommend.........Morrowind :)

Indeed, Great game. Well worth getting even though the next installment is out soonish. :)

New RPG's have been very thin on the ground in recent times. Ones i can think of that i enjoy other than what have been mentioned -

Icewind Dale 1 and 2
Divine Divinity and Beyond Divinity (If you want a Diabloesque experience)
Morrowind
Gothic 2
Arx Fatalis

Oblivion is out in a month or so if you can wait that long.

Well if you could wait why not try Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. And I hear there is a new Might of Magic coming out, though not sure who good that is.

I have to disagree with Temple of Elemental Evil and Arx Fatalis. I thought TOEE was incredibly buggy and dull. It certainly didn't have anything close to the depth of the BG games.

AF I thought was very simplistic with extremely poor graphics. The system of using the mouse to 'draw' spells was annoying and erratic too. It was more like a point'n'click adventure than an RPG, it consisted of going to point 'a' to get item 'x' then taking it to point 'b' and using it with item 'y' and so on. Plus it takes place entirely in caves and dungeons which I thought was pretty dull.

The best RPGs are the older ones, if you can get past the aging graphics - Fallout, BG, Arcanum, Planescape Torment, etc. I would also chuck in another vote for Morrowind, its the closest to being an offline MMORPG yet.

NWN 2 is out in a few months time i think so some offline rpgs are still being produced.
