Offset Voltage - Need some explanation

Guys,

I'm currently stable with 4.7Ghz @ 1.416v (though that's on the higher side compared to a few others I see around), but, I'm currently on Manual Voltage setting.
I understand that if I switch to Offset Voltage then the VCore can get lower based on reduced Load. As I do not use the system on full load always, I would like the voltages to drop down when moderately used.

I tried getting my head around the Offset Setting, but, am confused.

It would be great if someone could explain how I can achieve this, in a simple manner.

EDIT: I read a write up on how to set the offset voltage. I ran stress test on my 4.7Ghz OC, and recorded the VID from CPU-Z (1.3811 in my case), and CPU-Z showed VCore as 1.416 under load. So, from the write up, I calculated the Offset Voltage in BIOS as 1.416 - 1.3811 = +0.035v. So, I set the +Offset Voltage in BIOS.

Now, when I boot back into the system, I see that under less load / idle, the voltage stays around 1.1v, but when I stress test, it goes all the way up to 1.416v and at times it hits 1.448v. This means that I now record higher temp. across the cores.

What's going wrong? Have I misinterpreted anything?

All the offset does is let you add or subtract from the auto voltage level. By the way, your voltage is a little on the high side. Anything over 1.4v long term will most likely degrade the silicon.

First update your board to the latest bios using the inbuilt flasher in the EUFI and a USB stick (DO NOT DO THIS VIA WINDOWS!)

Your offset voltages should be much stabler than that. Your LLC should be set to Very High. What are the other settings you have in that section of the UEFI bios?

I will look at my BIOS and get back on the settings.
Btw, my BIOS is already updated to the latest version.
