Oh Balls, just cut my sodding thumb.

Dont you just hate it when you do stupid things, just planning to do a bit of painting this avo, and thought id get started on the prep.

There i was trying to get the safety cover of the stanley knife scraper thing, and as it was stuck i forced it a little, and hey presto a 2 inch slice appears on the side of my thumb, nice, lots of blood loss later and some home made stitches later im sat here with my thumb in the air :p

My mom also concoted some ancient asian crap in a frying pan and has plastered that all over the wound too, it bloody stinks.

It just means im out of action for the next couple of days, which is a right pita as i have loads of painting stuff to do :(

Oh well time to dig out some dvd's.

Crap does stink mate - a strange Asian custom to spread it on wounds though :o

Ho ho erm no.

Its actually some ghee and Haldi (yellow powdery stuff) mixed up and its meant to make the wound heal quicker apparently, currenty i have that and some TCP on the cut, hmm what an aroma :D

Sod that Asian 'crap' as you call it. Aloe Vera it. Some noodle bar nr. Londons' West End had a card all about it's healing properties. I'm sceptical.

FFS.

Real men put on superglue and a single layer of electrical tape then get on with the DIY.

Funnily enough, some A+E departments do that (obviously not the same glue)... bar the electrical tape, instead it's micropore.

They used Superglue-type spray in Vietnam as well IIRC. And for wounds more serious than the OP's :)

Cyano is pretty nasty stuff if it gets into the bloodstream.

Methyl-2-cyanoacrylate, yes.

2-octyl-cyanoacrylate, no.

I have several blisterpacks of Dermabond here...In case of wounds/if I feel like playing with scalpels.

Yup - since it's inception, cyano has been used for closing wounds.

Hell, I've even used it to hold my bits together while they healed before.

Awesome!

edit - coincidentally, on 527 (Nat Geographic +1) a programme called 'I didn't know that' has just mentioned the Vietnam spray glue as they're doing a piece on superglue/crazy glue and it's use in wounds!

Real men use a piece of kitchen roll/ loo roll and electrical tape and get on with it. This is why I always keep some handy in the garage for when I'm working.
