Hi all,

To cut a long, silly story short:

I've accidently broken the wires on the power/reset switches for my Praetorian :( I tried to re-solder them, but made even more of a mess, resulting in physically breaking one of the contact legs on the reset switch.

Where woud I possibly be able to get a replacement from? I've checked the CM Parts Shop, and unfortunately, they've barely got any parts for the Praetorian /cry.

Any help is appreciated.

I would have done that, except one of the power switch leads has come loose. I'm actually scared to try and solder it back on.

Damned Akasa Paxmate. I only took my case apart to try and remove this terrible terrible stuff :o :p

Edit: Whilst I'm on the subject of Akasa Paxmate, I took some pics of the removal process to help anyone else with this stuff. It took me about 15 minutes to remove an area the size of the bottom of my Praetorian. I'll upload pics if anyone wants to see :)

If you cover postage both ways I will happily have a go at it for you. :)

If you want me to take a look at the switch I may be able to do something with it, or may have on about the place that has an issue with it not making contact every time, but better than nothing if I can find it. (small, so probably lost it!)

If you want me to take a look at either switch just drop me an email. :)

Thanks very much, that's mighty generous of you Yewen :D I'll let you know in a few days, I've got a re-sit exam tomorrow so it probably won't be until Monday til I get an answer to you. I might even just sell the case in its current state and pickup something better.

Just been playing around with them, and it seems that the power switch has started to make the 'clicking' noise when it's pressed. The reset switch does it, but you have to push the metal pins back into the housing as best you can before it does it.

Well if it needs a new home aswell just drop me an email. :p

Just post up or email me if you want me to and we can arrange something. :)

Good luck with the exam, don't spend all the time thinking about the reset switch...

Haha I probably will end up doing just that. Or worse, drawing out detailed diagrams of what the problem is with the switch, and attempting to explain possible solutions for it. When I really should be writing some C++ code to draw a line across the screen :D

I've sent you a mail to your ocukmods.co.uk account :) .

I've had three sets of switches on CM cases do that now and all have been fixed using the wonderous shrink wrap :)

Yeh, bit of solder and that stuff and jobs a goodun.

I have none at the moment, so tidy insulation tape is the way to do it. :p

thats exactly what happened to mine, yewen fixed it *bows* then i mucked it up again :(, did a terrible job of soldering (soldering balls together to make a tower of solder :( ) , but it worked.. as i dont want anything not to be right in the case, i sold it :p , didnt lose any money, but still parped me off

so pc7+2 here i come

edit: o yea, um, i think the lian li case switches work, as it looks exactly the same, but the only site is an american one, im not gonna post it as it might be competitor maybe, as they ship to the uk

nice ATCS style praetorian, or new poop praetorian ?

old one = :( ... maybe get some fresh connectors from the auction site and ask someone who knows what theyre doing to solder them

new one = good riddance :p

You really must not know very much about cases to think the new praetorian is rubbish.

In fact, I first had a lian li V1100 case for my new system, but it sucked so bad at cooling that I had to get a new case. This praetorian is like a freezer inside, keeps everything ice cold.

The new Praetorian is ugly in comparison with the old one. The cooling might be better on it, but I prefer aesthetics to cooling. That's probably because I run an ancient rig in mine, so cooling doesn't even matter to me rofl :p .

Still contemplating selling this one though, I quite like the look of the V1000. Ideally, something small, but good to look at :D

Edit: CM got back to me via email, they've got the switches so I've asked Robby to send me a set over :D CM customer service ***.
