I was playing a little bit of Stalker on-line last night when suddenly there were two bright flashes and a bang. It was not the game, but my PSU. :(I really hope it didn't take out the Mobo etc. Getting a new one later today and will see tonight. :(

Yipes, that's not good.

If it DID fail through and connect high voltage to the low voltage side, frying up your machine a treat, I'd like to think the makers were liable in some way, because that's clearly unfit for purpose because it does not fail safe. Could also have caused injury if you'd been touching the case.

Must remember not to buy stalker ;)

Best of luck to you mate.

Good to hear, what brand PSU was it?

I had both a Hiper Type R and an Antec NeoH go pop on the same system, neither damaged any components thankfully.

My Hiper decided to go bang as soon as I turned the system on for the first time. Replaced it with a Tagan PSU, and it's been fine since.

definatly not the best psu on the market ... what were you powering ? isnt that thing like £20 or something ...

anyway glad to know everything is working but i would do some tests first.

All running smashing and as before.

Not running a lot, 3 HDs, DVD, E6750, 8800 GTS, USB Saitek Eclipse 2 and Razer Death Adder. Not a huge drain for a 550w PSU. My PC is on 24/7 though and I was playing with "sleep", trying to get it to work, causing many crashes and reboots, but I found out in the end it was due to the overclock, at stock it slept soundly. I tend to tinker until I break it, then fix it again and start again. Cant help myself, it's a curse.:D
