My brother just took the car out for a bit of practice with my Dad and on the way back managed to scrape the entire passenger side on the gatepost as well as putting a nice dent in the door and the rear quarter. I'm so frigging annoyed! Not said anything to him since it wouldn't be fair but still, I'd had it nearly 2 years and learnt to drive in it myself without doing anything daft to it. :( Going to take it a bodyshop tomorrow to have it looked at but I foresee a large bill. Really didn't need this at the moment since I'm preparing to go away for 2 months a week on Friday and was hoping to do that with the minimum of fuss.

I would not have a big go at him he needs confidence to pass.......as long as he pays that must be enough.

Nah, I won't say anything to him as it is just an accident and I don't want to knock his confidence because he's probably feeling pretty rough anyway. I'm sure we'll sort something out for paying it as well. Just feeling a bit pent-up about it since I can't have a go at anyone for it. :o

It was my fault!

I ran a huge pole down the side with spikey bits and everything.

Really enjoyed it too!

Don't bother fixing it properly until your brother can drive better!
Just a bit of primer and touch up paint on the exposed metal to stop any rust will do for now.

It's me that mainly drives the thing so I'd rather not drive round looking like a ***** till it's fixed.

Update: Been to a number of bodyshops and quotes range from 700-1200 quid on the basis of replacing the rear wing and possibly the door too! Plasticine panels tbh. Just going to get them beaten out and sprayed, it'll not look perfect but I'll not be driving this car that much since I'm off to uni in September.

Damn, tough luck on that mate, look on the bright side, he didn't go straight into it and put the radiator in or anything like that!

But still big ouch on the quote :( What car is it, out of interest?

Only takes one lapse of concentration or misjudgement, it's hardly a sign that he's incapable of passing his test.

Scraping all the way down the side of the car? That's some lapse!

I took it to be hyperbole tbh... his dad was with him, surely he'd stop him as soon as he scratched it a bit and not let him drive for a car's length while on the post? I dunno.

I'll post pictures if you don't believe it, can't see why I'd exagerrate...

Car's a Rover 25, and as has been said it might be a cheap car but it doesn't make it any quicker to put back together.
