I swore to myself last time, "No more consoles!", damn expensive time consuming plastic boxes. At the launch of the PS2 i picked one up for the princley sum of £320. I then over the course of about 2 years spent countless thousands on games, ending up with a collection in the region of 500. Sold it all many moons ago and got into PC gaming, and loved it, and swore to never agin get a console.
Recently i came into posession of a 360, thought "why not lets see if its any good". And balls! It's GREAT
Now naysayers please bear in mind, i never had an xbox, nor did i have the PS2 when online play was introduced, in fact bar a few FPS PC games ive hated the online gaming concept, always preferring my own company when absorbed in a game, ive also never had media features such as streaming, downloading and custom soundtracks . Well after blitzing through PGR3 in just over a day and unlockingmost of the treats, feeling smug and confident i took up my LIVE gold trial and set about racing online for a laugh.
Well i sucked, badly. Lost 2 races because i hate the nurburgring with a fury, forgot my controller was wireless and threw it over my head smashing a teapot on the mantle, stupid invention. And in the end stayed up till 6am racing with a bunch of rather humerous americans, enjoying jiving along to all my own tunes in the races.
Its great! The way Live! works is great! The machine is great! The headset chatter is great! The racing is great! It's all just great! I would love more than anything to hate it, to trash it and want to sell it and go back to PC. In fact that WAS my intention, up until i decided to buy a 12month live sub another w/less controller, 2 charge packs and a wireless net adapter.
The only crap part imo is that the HDD is so small, in this terabyte drive era we should get more than 13 poxy gig.
So for anyone who cares, my gamer handle majiggy is 'Ultra Extreme' (surprise) and i play PGR mainly. What a great product!
