I left my computer on last night, churning away but the monitor was turned off.

I woke up this morning and as I went to turn my monitor on, I was greeted by my desktop for about a second before my monitor went a complete greyish-white and then turned off. I tried this three more times with the same result.

I then tried to restart my computer, only to find that my monitor doesn't want to display anything at all.

It's a little difficult for me to test anything so I'm at a loss as to what's happened. I'm assuming my monitor may have gone, or it could possibly be my GFX? Is there a chance that something may have happened with the VGA?

Any help is appreciated! TIA.

it's probably the gpu that has gone, disconnect it all, and give your gfx card time to calm down, then connect it up again. do you have another monitor you can test>

Unfortunately not. I just got a massive ear-ache for just 'borrowing' this computer to post on. :(

I've taken my GFX card out and given it a good clean (the sink was caked in dust -- I only cleaned it about 3 months ago!). I completely disconnected everything and left it to settle as suggested, but it doesn't seem to have helped.

I don't seem to be getting anything from the monitor, so I'm beginning to wonder if it's that rather than the GFX card. Any one else had an issue with grey-screening? To begin with I grey screened, but after the reboot I've had just black.
