Sorry Blackvault, you must have been reading my mind this weekend :)

Taken in the walled garden at Dunvegan Castle on Skye on Sunday. Nikon D50 and Tamron AF 70-300 F/4-5.6 LD Macro 1:2 lens.

As these are my very first attemps, I'd appreciate constructive criticism....

I call this one "Orange" - f4.8, 1/640s exposure.

And this one "Blue" - f6, 1/500s exposure

I really like the orange one it's very sharp :). I don't like the blue one as much but I think that has to do with the flower and not the photograph.

Number one is fantastic!

Shame number one doesn't quite live up to it!
lol, love the mistake

I think I have to agree with the first line in that statement, it's a very good shot, nice composition and colours, but in the 2nd image I just think the flower is lacking a bit, in comparison. :)

Very slight colour balance tweak in PS, and a mild sharpen (TBH, not really noticeable from the original!)

I like the second one more for personal reasons, it's a Himalayan Poppy. My grandfather used to grow them.
