I've been trying to use ubuntu recently, i've set up a virtual machine for those apps i can't live without but other than that it's been near perfect aside from one glaring issue. This issue is the huge amount of overscan it suffers when i extend the desktop over to my HDTV. I use my PC for three things, browsing the net, work and media playback, with one of those three ruined it pretty much renders ubuntu useless.

I've had a look around and all i see is people basically saying it's a issue with the nvidia drivers, live with it. Thing is i'm missing a good 25% of my screen off of the left hand side of my HDTV so living with it would involve pretending i'm blind in one eye in order to not feel like i'm missing out.

Any ideas guys? Would love to get this sorted as it's ruining what is nearly a perfect OS setup for me.

Graphics card is a 8800GT if that helps.
